My only fear is that these NDP clips are going to make the rounds so widely that Canada is going to be flagged as a more tempting invasion prospect than Cuba.

Fun fact about left-wing firebrand populist Avi Lewis: He would be the first Canadian prime minister to have attended Upper Canada College.

Is a “trad wife” an “at home mother,” or is she a quasi homesteader?

New York Times promoting a homemade matzoh recipe that isn't kosher for passover is definitely on the nose

@fakehistoryhunt @robbertleusink Cholera would've been a risk though, no? I remember "table beer" growing up in Belgium. Very low alcohol and kids were allowed to drink it. Usually served with lunch.

Trappist monks kept medieval Europe alive and nobody gave them credit for it During plague years, wells killed you, but beer couldn't The fermentation process eliminated the bacteria that made water lethal The monks had no germ theory, just one observation repeated across generations: beer was safe, water wasn't So they brewed it at scale for everyone Every craft brewery alive today is the secular heir to monks who kept plague-era Europe drinking

Humans are returning to the Moon for the first time in 54 years exactly one week from today. This is not being talked about enough.

People who think it is good that there isn't mass starvation across the planet even though we have more than 8 billion people, and Iowans, are a little put out that there isn't more widespread celebration of Norman Borlaug's birthday today.

@HamptonPrezcott Yeah this is kind of the biggest barrier to me on the parks. (I have a kid in the requisite age bracket.) I'm well-off and don't mind paying extra money for a good experience, but there's mental load in figuring out and optimizing the whole meta-layer of pricing schemes.

I think the problem with Disney Parks isn’t the cost, per se (they have always been extremely expensive), it’s the obscene complexity of the experience (Lightning Pass, etc.) coupled with lousy bang for buck at F&B and Hotels.
Sonny Bunch@SonnyBunch

@RobGeorge This is the thing: Disney Parks are, maybe, in a sneakily large amount of trouble because they’re losing the next generation due to ticket prices, lack of interest, etc. It’s a similar problem with movie theaters but papered over by all the Disney Adults still coming to parks.

@MiriVinni She doesn't paint it as a sacrifice however. She positions it as a win that she didn't recognize right away.
