Hurts clearly has his enemies in the building and they make their feelings known (anonymously) when there’s a disappointing season. It’s as simple as that.

If AJ Brown stays, an AJ-Devonta-Hollywood trio would definitely allow the offense to be vertical AF off of play action Posts, Overs, Comebacks and Deep Outs. Best use of the QB and core.

Breaking: The #Eagles are signing former #Chiefs WR Marquise “Hollywood” Brown to a 1-year, deal worth up to $6.5M, multiple sources tell me. The explosive Brown had 49 catches for 587 yards and 5 TDs last season.

@CoachJeff_ @KoleMusgrove23 Absolutely. That guy really sucks. Ask any receiver who has ever (attempted to catch) passes from him. Think Kaepernick: can’t get past his second progression but can run.

@DianteLeeFB This might be the most negative sign on the Sirianni regime that we’ve gotten. AJ Brown and Jeff Stoutland wanting to leave during the same season is a terrible look. If we lose Stout, AJ, and Lane in the same offseason…..

My thoughts on the Eagles' hiring of Sean Mannion and Josh Grizzard: I expected the Eagles to go with an OC who had playcalling experience after how last season went, but that is always easier said than done. Once McDaniel and Daboll were off the board, I would rather shoot for upside than bring in a retread like Matt Nagy. Mannion is an interesting candidate. He has played under or coached with a lot of great minds in the NFL (Sean McVay, Klint Kubiak, Kevin Stefanski, Kevin O'Connell, Matt LaFluer, Dave Canales, etc.) While that doesn't guarantee he will work out, it's nice that he has been exposed to a lot of those guys' schemes. I'm generally in on QBs making the leap to coaching, especially ones that may not have been the most athletically gifted. Rightly or wrongly, I assume they had to have a really strong understanding of how the game works to stick around as a backup. Mannion is well outside of the Eagles' established offensive scheme, which is a good thing. I think it signifies a much-needed shift. Maybe it will take him a little bit to get a feel for sequencing his play calls, but if the offensive design is better (and it really can't be much worse), that can cover up a lot of those issues while he gets his feet under him. It's a big plus that the Packers ranked near the bottom of the league in hitch routes. I also like bringing Grizzard in, too. He has coached under Mike McDaniel and Liam Coen, so there should be plenty of overlap in their schematic preferences. It's also nice to have someone who has been on NFL staffs for a decade and has a year of playcalling experience (even if it fell apart down the stretch in Tampa last year) to work with Mannion, who is only entering his 3rd year as an NFL coach. Even if it works perfectly next year, I have a hard time seeing Mannion getting hired as a head coach after 1 season. But if he does, then you have Grizzard/Loeffler in the building as potential promotion candidates. It's not the direction I expected the Eagles to go, but I'm excited by the shift in philosophy and can't wait to see it on the field.

@FTFonFS1 @Chris_Broussard Not a HOF QB. The reward for 2 Super Bowls is…2 Super Bowls. It doesn’t automatically get you in the Hall. I love Jalen but if he wins another Super Bowl and then is a .500 QB for his career, I’m not going to bang the drum for him to get in the HOF. You need more than that.

“In New York, they think Eli is unquestionably a Hall of Famer. Outside of New York, I think most people think like he was a really good player, won 2 Super Bowls but he was a .500 QB.” @Chris_Broussard thinks Eli won’t ever get into the Hall of Fame:

@DianteLeeFB @evankoch I don’t agree with the part about credit and blame. If this offense looks even mildly competent he’s going to get a lot of praise. The fanbase and the national media are pretty down on Sirianni as an offensive mind at this point.

@evankoch Mannion probably has nothing to lose. He can always go back to the LaFleur/McVay guys if he fails… but this is not where I’d wanna get my first shot at OC. The power dynamics are almost entirely set up to give him all the blame and none of the credit.

@DianteLeeFB Why do you think the scheme isn’t changing? Because he’s too early in his career to come in with a substantially different scheme?

Couple things I’m inferring - The real priority is Hurts. I’d guess Philly would only take a guy this early in his career b/c he’s a former QB. - Likely a multiyear situation for Mannion. Hiring to establish continuity is probably a good idea. - Scheme ain’t changing.

The #Eagles are hiring #Packers QB coach Sean Mannion as their new offensive coordinator, per The Insiders. At long last, a lengthy search ends with a bright young mind — and former QB — in Philly.

I reached out to the great @MarquesEversoll regarding Packers QB coach Sean Mannion. Eagles fans might enjoy what he had to say: “He’s a fast riser. The story behind him is that Matt LaFleur coached Mannion with the Rams. After the 2023 season, the Bears wanted to interview Mannion for a coaching job. So Mannion set up a call with LaFleur and asked if he could ‘hear his pitch’ to prepare him for the interview. LaFleur was so impressed with his presentation that he basically hijacked him. Mannion interviewed with the Bears, then came to Green Bay and LaFleur hired him on the spot. I think most Packer fans would prefer Mannion as offensive coordinator over Adam Stenavich, for whatever that’s worth.”
