A mistake insofar as it’s giving in to a contrived hysteria. Even if you have to back off, for some reason, don’t make it *sound* like you’re backing off. I hope he doesn’t make a habit of this.

@micky26720 No I didn’t urge that, and in fact I expressed worry about how far they were giving way, and in the end realised the whole tactic was doomed — but you’re not wrong in the basic point that I was part of an acquiescence, an attempt to reason with the hysteria, that utterly failed.

This will not stand up legally.
Zack retweeted — did not issue a statement — a questioning of the seemingly excessive use of force.
The head of the Met, during purdah, wrote a two page attack as if Zack had said it.
It is clear involvement in politics.

Today we heard the closing defence speeches of the Filton 6 trial, with all defendants except Sam Corner choosing to dismiss their lawyers and represent themselves. Corner, who in addition to criminal damage faces a charge of grievous bodily harm with intent, remained represented in court.
The jury first heard a powerful closing speech from Charlotte Head, who told them: “It’s entirely possible you may be one of the last juries to get to make decisions in a case like this before even that right is taken away from ordinary people.”
