I hate to break it to everyone that thinks replying to every PlayStation post now about physical media is going to magically make them change their mind. You don't spend $34 mil to refit your facilities to reverse course because some people online are upset.

@hopaque_ They are retrofitting their disc manufacturing plant for other technologies they are selling/using. That isn't the same as pulling a game down they already sunk money into.

I still don't think I'm fully understanding the outrage at not having physical discs for games. Is it cool to have a physical copy? For sure, I still buy physical quite a bit. But is it necessary to enjoy a game? After so many years of gaming and then going back to specific games, a big part of the experience of the games I loved was who I was when I played them. What was going on around me at the time. Who I was playing them with. I don't need my original Halo: CE disc to taste the late night, Mt. Dew and pizza fueled LAN parties. I don't need my original Pokemon Yellow cart to remember being 10 years old and hiding under the blankets playing the game when I was supposed to be sleeping. I don't need a physical copy of Gauntlet Legends to remember the multiple all-nighters we pulled on that game. I don't need a disc copy of League of Legends to hang out with some of my best friends that I've met because of the game. It will always be incredible to be able to relive those memories by replaying a game, but maybe it should be more about the experience than buying something.

If my math is right, physical games are being sold at a massive loss, so no, Sony won’t change their mind.

Carta aberta aos meus excelentíssimos seguidores: Senhores, embora o incômodo seja apenas para uma minoria, compreendo que meu hiperfoco no atual problema na plataforma do PlayStation referente a mídias físicas pode ser um pouco chato, mas peço as devidas escusas para esclarecer algo importante. Nunca fui um cara de desistir no primeiro problema ou barreira com meus objetivos. Luto pelo que acredito e absolutamente nada tira meu foco quando estou engajado em algo urgente. A bomba que a Sony lançou semana passada não se trata apenas do FIM DOS DISCOS, mas do nosso direito como consumidores em termos a verdadeira POSSE daquilo que gastamos nosso suado dinheiro. A mídia digital tem suas vantagens, mas não É UMA COMPRA, é um ALUGUEL por tempo infinito... Até que algo aconteça, como fechamento da loja, estúdios que retiram os jogos da biblioteca ou algum banimento arbitrário. Em contrapartida, qualquer disco de PS1, PS2, PS3 ou PS4 que você retirar nesse exato momento da sua estante irá funcionar no seu console, porque o jogo É SEU e ninguém pode tirá-lo de você. Essa briga não é especificamente pelos discos em si, é para que, se for para acabar, que algo satisfatório tome seu lugar, com as MESMAS VANTAGENS. O que a Sony está propondo é tirar todas as vantagens que temos nesse formato sem oferecer nada em troca e isso é I N A C E I T Á V E L! Muito me entristece quando vejo alguns dos senhores com severas críticas a quem está nessa luta, pois geralmente são os mesmos que usufruem do nosso esforço quando fazemos a Sony reverter decisões idiotas, como na época da ganância nas microtransações no lançamento de Gran Turismo 7, o upgrade gratuito que tentaram negar em Horizon Forbidden West ou até mesmo o fechamento da loja do PS3 em 2021 que ainda era bastante usada. Então, lhes peço: Somos todos do mesmo time. Se não for pra ajudar, não atrapalhem. E aos que estão na briga, não tentem obrigar a quem está quieto a participar. Dito isso, comunico que — excepcionalmente para esse assunto — comentários depreciativos sobre a causa serão censurados nas postagens sobre esse tema, pois não temos tempo a perder com pormenores. Não ficarei restrito apenas a esse assunto, mas saibam que ele estará presente com frequência, pois não é uma batalha que se vence do dia para noite... E mesmo se perdermos, cairei atirando. É dificil lutar contra uma tendência. Em 2021 as vendas de jogos no formato digital bateu 70%. Em 2022 era 72%. Em 2024 subiu para 83%, no ano atual já representa cerca de 85%, isso no playstation. Até 2028, que é quando a Sony para de oferecer, isso ai vai estar em mais de 90%
