USA hosted the World Cup back in 94 too. The American team made it to the knockout stage for the first time - promptly lost to Brazil. At that time there was some excitement, and feelings America would develop a farm system to make it world class. Didn’t really happen. Americans have their own sports they love, and a lot of them. For much of the world - ‘football’ is just where it’s at. So 2026 isn’t really unique, and probably won’t change much in terms of American preferences and priorities.
