@CindyKatz9 @uubzu @SpencerAlthouse Oh so now your claim is they're not smarter than you they just work way harder than you, good ol lazy boy over here telling on himself. Indian Americans have the single highest median household income of all ethnicities in the U.S. for a reason.

As Jerry Jeff reminded us, it is Derby Day. If you had a racehorse that needed a name. What Texas/Red Dirt song title would you use? We’re going with Gin, Smoke and Lies.

@CFBChuckk Each year each BIG and SEC team should have an OOC game against a team from the other league based on ranking from previous year. #1 SEC team vs #1 BIG, 2 vs 2, etc. Go a long way to settle the debate and bring incredible ratings

Here’s reality. It’s clear the top of the Big 10 is the best in CFB. The middle of the B10 beats the middle of the SEC in football games. The bottom is the only thing to cling to, and there will never be a way to prove they’re just as bad. So that’s where we are at. Sure, they lost to Memphis. But they’re good I swear - they had some draft picks.

@Rule3O3 What about the guy who hired Kathleen Kennedy and (presumably) gave a green light to her worst decisions? What was his failure mode?

A question neo male chauvinists should be able to answer: Why can “Gen Z boss in a mini” successfully run a skincare company but Kathleen Kennedy can’t run Star Wars? Answer: Because the aboriginal female skill - reading the room - works well only for the literal room they are physically in. It doesn’t scale and social media throws it off catastrophically. Reading the room in an office full of young women is a great way to predict what lotions and potions will go over in a market where the buyers and the sellers are essentially identical. But reading the room at Lucasfilm HQ won’t tell you jack shit about what the ~10yo boys Star Wars was created for want (or will tolerate). The aboriginal flaw in women’s antennae is that it’s susceptible to being hacked by persistent shameless terroristic psychos. (This was highly adaptive in chimp bands, but theoretically should not be needed much in Northern California. And wasn’t back when Spielberg, Lucas, Coppola, DePalma, etc. were doing their thing. Every success we associate with them came from epic *refusals* to read the room.) This tendency toward kakistocracy in women is why male friend groups sometimes have magnanimous chad leaders but groups of girls are almost always run by the meanest bitch in the bunch. Am I saying the Kathleen Kennedy most likely set fire to a trillion potential dollars and an eternity of fame because she couldn’t withstand the “really?, just really?” of a woke new writer or the over the top eye rolling of a sassy black production assistant, because they were physically in the room with her at all times while the fans and the investors were not. Yes. That’s exactly what I’m saying.

Smaller plantation houses of the MS Delta, at various times and places. These have not survived as well because, well, they just weren't as interesting. But houses like this were the ones built by the "hard spine" of the secessionist movement. Usually economically precarious, dependent on British loans, and unable to unwind themselves from the slavery trap.

An essential problem w the current Robert E. Lee discourse is that whether folks realize it or not, it serves as a way of othering the South and southern whites at the exact historical moment (ca 2010) that the South was the most aggressively self-integrating part of the US.

Watching the Cubs play the Dodgers on Apple. It’s a good experience. But it isn’t a blue collar game of yelling from the stands with a cheap beer and hotdog. There must be a way to make the original economic model work.

@imo34721 @theepicmap maybe Grand Isle for the vacation homes. A bunch of rough necks and helicopter drop offs in Fourchon. Venice a “bit of fishing?” between empire and Venice is some of the best fishing IN THE WORLD. Reds, trout, sheep head, black drum, flounder. A bit of fishing sells that short
