@LethorioGG @Yoda001 Funny tweet, but what's depressing is I'm confident more than one person will read this, remember it, but not remember that you were obviously taking the piss, and will at some point in the future sincerely repeat it to other people as an anecdote about how evil 15min cities are.

So Oxford UK is to become a 15 minute city in August. Do people realise what a 15 minue City is?????? Do you realise they need a pass to leave it, even to go to work???? That they are fined if they go over the pass limit. They must have facial recognition cameras everywhere!!!!! Anyone on here from Oxford?????

@laura_jackson79 @Yoda001 They're turned the heating in the UK right up in the last few days too, just to make us suffer.

@LauraHe39094500 @Yoda001 At least the ICE experience will serve them well in the fight back for an 18 minute city. We might even be able to push for 20 minutes.

@LethorioGG @Yoda001 I only ventured 15.5 minutes. They evicted me from my home and turned it into a HMO. They deported my kids to America and made them work as ICE agents. My husband is still trapped behind the walls of the city and can't leave. They make me stand the other side and stare at him.

@jonny5five1 @Yoda001 I can verify that this absolutely did happen and I am not making this up for internet clout at all.

@LethorioGG @Yoda001 I too have lost a friend to the 15 minute monster. 3 years ago, she agreed that they run the perimeter through her garden in exchange for life-long fake bake & heavy metal detox vouchers. Then took the bins out and BAM! - still trapped between the bottle bank & food remains.

@LethorioGG @Yoda001 I'm so glad I live in Sheffield where we will be a twenty minute city. The downside is we have to wear explosive collars around our necks which explode at 20 minutes and four seconds. I bet the people in Oxford would love an extra five minutes.

@LethorioGG @Yoda001 I live in Cambridge. If those bloody students lose the boat race next year then we will become a 15 minute city and, if we travel for 16 minutes they’ll set the bloodhounds after us and they’ll rip us to shreds. Do you realise that?????????????????? Really makes you think.

@rawespresso If the goal is saving for your retirement, you'd be far better paying into a SIPP than an ISA.

Most UK adults will retire on the state pension and a small amount of savings they don't realise won't be enough. The new state pension currently sits at around £230 a week — about £12,000 a year. The poverty line for a single retiree is roughly £14,400 a year. If you've got no other pension or savings, you retire below the poverty line. Permanently. Around half the population reaches state pension age with under £50,000 in private pension savings — which generates maybe £2,000 a year of additional income at a 4% withdrawal rate. The combined £14,000 a year is barely enough to keep the heating on, eat properly, and afford one cheap holiday a year. For the rest of your life. The fix is unspectacular: contribute more to your workplace pension than the auto-enrol minimum, open a Stocks and Shares ISA, and let compound interest do its work for 30+ years. Most people start serious retirement saving in their 50s, when there's barely any time left for it to compound.
