@akarlin @phl43 Low IQ statement. Every state views its enemy as terrorists. Every state thinks its justified in breaking norms that others shouldn't break. That's not how diplomatic norms work

@phl43 Israel views the Iranian regime less as a state with all the privileges that pertain to such, and more as a terrorist organization that took a large nation hostage. Considering its record of sponsoring terrorism against Jews and Israelis, I don't even think that's unreasonable.

The fact that Israel and the US are killing civilian officials is already crazy enough, but I don't think people realize how utterly insane it is that Israel even put Aragchi, a diplomat, on a kill list. Even Attila and Gengis Khan respected the immunity of diplomats.

Credible reporting that the Israelis literally wanted noone left to talk to in Tehran even its foreign minister and had to be told to take him off the kill list. reuters.com/world/asia-pac…

@razibkhan @Levin0945656 Within Christendom, once Jewish emancipation came into play, the outflow of Jews from the Ummah was just a matter of time. David Marshall (ne Mashal) was part of the Mizrahi community that fled the Ummah. In his case, destination Singapore, where he became Minister, Ambassador.

@jonkessler20 @razibkhan Yes, the Jewish vizier was killed by a mob in a political incident I wonder if Jews were allowed that high up in Christendom Muslim countries have no Jews today because of the twentieth century movement known as Zionism providing both push and pull factors

@Levin0945656 @razibkhan Jews were wiped out in Muslim lands, too. But Christendom was far more open about these atrocities, so there's a record often absent in Muslim lands. Today, Muslim countries are near Judenfrei - Christendom has, per capita, over 100x the Jews of the Ummah.

@MarktheRed21 @akarlin You gotta be very gullible to believe that "Islam has a problem with summarily executing virgins" and that prison guards raped her because of that. Prison guards or any other similar positions commiting rape is explained by selection effects and institutional accountability

Daily reminder it is perfectly reasonable to bomb and kill the Islamist terrorists who rule Iran and continue executing dissenting Iranians unabated. There would be a good counter-argument if Iran was strong, but in reality it is weak and run by seething losers.

@HeTows That might be true but it's also true that religious Zionism and high fertility of the Haredim and Datiim have made Israel much more illiberal The change is also from before the 70s. The type of country Israel is went out of fashion after WW2

Israel has not become more illiberal over time; in fact, it has become more liberal. What is true is that Israel has become more liberal much more slowly than most Western countries. As a result, to the average American, Italian or Brit of today, Israel would feel more conservative than it would have to their compatriots in the '70s - even though, in absolute terms Israel today is still more liberal than in the '70s.
David Wurmser@Wurmserscribit

It would be useful for all these Cassandras that Israel is becoming illiberal, opening a huge schism with US Jews, actually provide specific arguments with specific principles and facts. Remember, foreign policy is a question, but by illiberal, one means the internal measure of freedom of the nation. Exactly what has Israel done in the last 50 years to become more illiberal? Evidence please so a real debate can obtain, and compared to how “liberal” Israel was before 1977 (since then U.S. when we heard these argument first) when it was run by a socialist elite. Exactly what exactly has Israel done internally to become an illiberal nation that suggests, let alone drives, US Jews split from Israel? I want to see polls which show U.S. Jews are splitting from Israel because of its rising internal illiberalism, and indicate that it is not the broader rise of progressivism among many American Jewish youth that is the dominant factor in turning away from Israel, but that it is Israel’s actual behavior that is uniquely driven by Israel’s “illiberal” right and is not shared by Israel’s “liberal” left that is causing it. Moreover, any of those behavior have to be shown as new and not something Israel would have done in 1948, 1958, 1968, 1978. … Because in those years, Israel was ostensibly do much more liberal.

@IamSreeman @sabizak Hindutva is obviously less extreme than Islam, and all Abrahamic religions, in matters of blasphemy. That's because its not a real religion. Where it is more extreme is in its ethno religious fascism.

@sabizak It's good they criticize Hindutva & may help in stopping Hinduism from becoming State Religion but due to Wokes' extreme soft bigotry of low expectations that MENA are Noble Savages they will never help MENA people by criticizing Islamism even if 50 countries have state religion

1) Convert out of ‘any religion’. The only religion you can’t convert out of is Islam, so should have said that as clearly as you call out Hindutva. I will do it for you: Pakistanis should be able to convert away from Islam or declare no religion at all without fearing the law or ordinary people around them. 2) They didn’t scream at you because it wasn’t the internet. Perhaps it would be wise not to conflate online screaming with real life encounters.
Audrey Truschke@AudreyTruschke

Yes, when in Lahore in Feb, I challenged the focus on "Islamic" history. I also advocated for religious freedom, including the right to convert out of any religion one chooses, and other uncomfortable things. Some people disagreed, but nobody screamed at me. I liked that part.

In the next 3-4 years a major milestone will occur in the history of world religion, Islam will overtake Christanity as the largest religion for the first time ever. Outside of Africa, the number of Christians globally is already declining.

It's because you guys kicked off this round of wars, and got your ass whipped. The three steps are: (1) Boast about genociding every Jew/Maronite/general kaphar alive while committing multiple horrendous atrocities (2) Die (3) Beg the international community for relief and sanctions against "the death cult" on "aren't you a heckin' decent person?" grounds. I would personally show you no mercy or compassion at all, after reviewing this sequence, but I am unfortunately not a Western elected leader yet.

@phl43 This is what Twitter slop gets people to believe Iran is historically one of the most Muslim nations in the world. Out of the three Muslim gunpowder empires it was the most Muslim. It exported its culture to both. It's also in between both (it's the Muslim heartland)

I’m old enough to remember the many tweets from November 2023, immediately after the first Israel-Hamas ceasefire went into effect, confidently asserting that the war has ended, and of course ready with the autopsy on what went wrong. Similar energies here, also from many other accounts. People never learn.
