-They made the violence, sex, gore and political satire into a forefront element instead of a background one. Originally it enhanced the story, it wasn’t the whole thing

Solider Boy was in love with Clara in The 60s. It ends badly. He meets Crimson Countess in the 80s, has feelings for her. It’s possible to love more than one person, especially when you’re over 100. He sees reminders of Stormfront it stirs up old feelings. No plot hole.
