People still don’t seem to understand that global warming doesn’t mean “it can never be cold again.” It means a warming planet disrupts weather patterns, leading to more frequent and more extreme weather events. Scientists have been explaining this for decades, and somehow people still miss the point.

What scientists are saying is that a warming climate is making many of them more frequent, more intense and more destructive. That is not a conspiracy theory. It is not a political opinion. It is established physics. Yet some people would rather believe in secret weather weapons, aircraft spraying chemicals, magnetic pole shifts, or ancient biblical prophecies than listen to the overwhelming scientific evidence.
