@andrewtek @MizoChris Honestly i think eventually they might release an oled model like with the deck and with the core module being so light, i think you can just get one without the battery and have it wired (which defeats the point of the headset but tradeoffs ig) and have like a 200gr headset

@Lexfortd @MizoChris One can certainly hope so. I think there are a lot of people who would like a non-Meta standalone+PC headset to migrate to. I want to move to it for the Linux on ARM feature and eye tracking. I’d pay more for higher res, lower weight. Maybe a future Frame2.

I know the Steam Frame COULD POTENTIALLY COST around $1,000... But hear me out, that’s going to turn a lot of people away. I can say that there are a few things that make it genuinely different from the competition. • Standalone VR headset that also streams PC VR games wirelessly • Runs SteamOS with direct access to the Steam ecosystem • Eye tracking with foveated streaming to improve performance • 2160×2160 resolution per eye with up to a 144Hz refresh rate • Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, 16GB LPDDR5X memory, Wi-Fi 7, and expandable storage • “Great on Frame” support helps identify games optimized for the headset compatibility The price is definitely hard pill to swallow, but if Valve delivers on the software experience like it did with the Steam Deck, the Steam Frame could become one of the most compelling VR headsets for PC gamers.

@andrewtek @MizoChris Nah, based on info we have the base model should still be less than 1k or at 1k, the steam frame shouldnt have gotten as big as a price hike as the steam machine did, the 1tb on the other hand, it might be around that if it comes with the accessory pack?

@MizoChris Do you think the Steam Frame will be around $1,000? After the price increase for Steam Deck and launch price for Steam Machine, I would not be surprised if it were around or above $1,350.

@HardwareSteam not on launch since i dont live somewhere where valve ships to but i will definitely get one when i have the chance later this year (the earlier it releases the better)

@HardwareSteam Considering tht they are adding games to "great on frame" and this, my guess of frame announcement would be from the 13th to 22nd of july, hopefully im not wrong.

@NeilSeydel @HardwareSteam Crazy how no one agreed with you, like no actual intention to be mean but i thought i'd see at least one person agree yknow? Anyways im def also using it standalone because i dont have access to my main pc 24/7 so something for beat saber, vrc and laptop stuff is nice.

STEAM FRAME UPDATE Valve’s PCVR showcase games have been tested with Steam Frame’s standalone compatibility system! Valve is interestingly testing the original x86 builds of these games rather than specially ARM made ones. The Lab is “Verified”, and Aperture Hand Lab is “Playable”.
