@piratesmurf24 Yeah, fans have to wear that for sure. But in the world of football, when you KNOW you’re going to get abused, you also have to be able to laugh at yourself and try and make the best of what is the worst situation we’ve ever faced.
English

@LiamDempsey40k No the fans didnt have a choice, but they did have a choice in dressing up in camouflage, binoculars etc as well as celebrating it all.

All this crying from Southampton about how unfair it all is, nobody forced them to cheat for 4 months straight.
They seemed happy enough taking the piss and dressing up last week playing Middlesbrough.
Zero sympathy

The EFL haven’t just punished us; they’ve ruined us. In addition to losing half our team, we’ll be sued for many, many millions by players, sponsors & rival teams. We’re essentially facing years of decline and pain on and off the pitch. Thats why this is disproportionate.
English

@barryvmc @TheSaintsNet That’s heart warming. Thank you.

Thanks again Barry.
English

@LiamDempsey40k @TheSaintsNet I tried to find an email address for you to send you a much longer message, such was the empathy the whole show evoked. I have many thoughts on the whole saga that could only be written in long form. I hope your pain eases over next few weeks.
English

I was finding it hard to feel for #saintsfc fans, then I realised that was the algorithm feeding my bias. So I listened to @TheSaintsNet and my god do I feel for @LiamDempsey40k. He spoke with such passion. He’s also blaming the right people
English

@POTUS048 You mean, like deciding who’s going to be in the final with 4 days notice?
English

People claiming Saints being kicked out means the EFL have protected the integrity of the competition.
Wrong.
They’ve already fucked it by letting the semi final go ahead. If they thought they’d kick a team out, the competition should have been paused.

English

The last sentence in this tweet.
This. This is the reality.

Southampton were more than happy to GAIN £200m by CHEATING. Repeatedly. Now they want to bleat about being denied £200m because they were caught. Cheating bastards. Utter scumbags at the top of that club. #Boro #Saintsfc
English

Oh good. Even more embarrassment.
Own. Your. Shit.

A statement from Phil Parsons, Chief Executive, Southampton Football Club.
English

@lufcgilly But. This means we shouldn’t have been in the play offs at all. We so, whoever goes up now, it’s always going to have a question mark and a dark stain on it.
English

@lufcgilly I’m struggling to see how they’d suffer more with delays, if it means the whole play off competition was competed fair and justly? Surely that outweighs everything.
Look, Saints are my club. And I’m not arguing the punishment. I’m disgusted by what we’ve admitted to.
English

@thecuttybang Ok….
I mean, there’s no arguments from me on this point. But that’s not what my original tweet was about was it….
English

@LiamDempsey40k Southampton fucked it.. it’s on them and nobody else.
English

@lufcgilly But multiple clubs are suffering.
Boro fans have not got to try and sort all they need before Saturday, without currently certainty they’ll be playing.
Hull have been prepping for the wrong team.
Wrexham could have been in the semi finals.
English

@LiamDempsey40k Pausing causes a knock of effect on everything else including major impact to clubs not suspected of wrongdoing and the EFL itself. It’s some ego to think it appropriate that multiple clubs and their fans suffer for the sake of the one bad actor.
English

@lufcgilly Pausing isn’t finding them guilty. Pausing is giving yourself the space to establish the facts and the evidence. Pausing allows a punishment to be brought before it’s gone too far.
English

@LiamDempsey40k How can you act as though someone is guilty before then being found guilty? That way madness lies
English

@whitcher_j38836 This was obviously supposed to say ‘Luck’…
English

@whitcher_j38836 You’re probably right. In principle though, I stand by my original point.
Also, I appreciate the open conversation. It’s rare on X, without it reverting to name calling…
Good look to Millwall next season.
English

@PeteL84 Southampton have handled themselves fucking appallingly considering they’ve now owned up to the breaches. I was behind the professional silence when I was in denial. But now - utter disgrace.
English

@LiamDempsey40k Or Southampton should have come clean before the first leg
English

@whitcher_j38836 Not quite, but kind of.
We cheated. We should be ejected. No arguments there from me.
But. If we’re ejected before the semis, they then change. Wrexham make it in. The teams that play each other change. We’re talking a potentially completely different outcome.
English

@LiamDempsey40k You’re working off the basis that pausing for say 2 weeks would yield a different outcome. Rule breached. Punishment dished. Harsh punishment? But another 2 weeks doesn’t alter anything. Soton have admitted it. Not like they asked for more time for evidence and were denied.
English

@whitcher_j38836 Interesting take. I think they’d prefer a fair and balanced competition when promotion is at stake than the small amount of extra time off.
“Do you want 2 weeks extra leave, or a chance at a £210M promotion”.
I’m not saying you’re wrong FYI. Just interested.
English

@LiamDempsey40k For the 3 teams that wouldn’t be promoted, of course. Not only are they not promoted they now have a disadvantage for the new season.
English

@whitcher_j38836 And you’re suggesting that’s worse than this current situation?
English

@LiamDempsey40k Rubbish. Paused for how long? Even 2 weeks means that players and managers can’t go their summer break, meaning other clubs in the league have an advantage for next season as their players have had 2 weeks longer break than others.
English
