JJE to the reader: I've been running an account "as" William Tyndale since 2016. It has been a great joy to see his quotes and translations bless followers from 6 continents. Neverthelater, we've gone through all his books twice over..

The cause why I set my name before this little Treatise, and have not rather done it in the New Testament is, that then I followed the counsel of Christ, which exhorteth men (Matt vi) to do their good deeds secretly & to be content with the conscience of well doing...

I know that Japanese people revere the Sumo. Very large, strong, and athletic men pushing each other around. We Americans, too, have our own Sumo. They are called "Offensive Linemen." Baseball is far more popular there, but I think they would appreciate such power and grace.

💯 This is my lone hang-up with the CN agenda: it's not ecclesiastically ambitious or imaginative enough. I'm far more inspired by the One Baptism project. The City of God comes after.
Peter Leithart@PLeithart

Protestant nationalists can envision, in great detail, a world where Protestants make all the calls. They cannot envision a world where Protestants and Catholics and Orthodox are reunited in one body. An odd combination of robust political and shrunken ecclesial imagination.

"The love of husband and wife is the force that welds society together. Men will take up arms and even sacrifice their lives for the sake of this love. St. Paul would not speak so earnestly about this subject without serious reason; why else would he say, “Wives, be subject to your husbands, as to the Lord?” Because when harmony prevails, the children are raised well, the household is kept in order, and neighbors, friends, and relatives praise the result. Great benefits, both of families and states, are thus produced. When it is otherwise, however, everything is thrown into confusion and turned upside-down." -- John Chrysostom

@LambdaDarrow @RettCopple Sets up perfectly for America's admission into the Agenda 2030 project under a totalitarian Dem state. Hate to say I kinda think that was the puppet masters' play the whole time.

The reason I hate the Iran war is that it threatens to undo even the small domestic gains that have been made under the Trump admin. It could be this term's equivalent of COVID, and the left will be even more authoritarian and vindictive than they were under Biden this time. I don't hate the war because I don't support the Trump agenda, I hate it because I do.

@MLJHaynes @megynkelly @LPJerusalem Gentle reminder that the daily sacrifice is never just taken away, it is replaced by abominations that bring great destruction. When you see it happening, get your affairs in order (Mt 24:15).

JUST IN: Israeli Police prevented Cardinal Pizzaballa from entering the Church of the Holy Sepulchre today, as he went to say Mass. @LPJerusalem calls it a “grave precedent” which “constitutes a manifestly unreasonable and grossly disproportionate measure.” Full statement from @LPJerusalem below —— Joint Press Release The Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem and the Custody of the Holy Land Holy City of Jerusalem Palm Sunday, 29 March 2026 This morning, the Israeli Police prevented the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, His Beatitude Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Head of the Catholic Church in the Holy Land, together with the Custos of the Holy Land, the Most Reverend Fr. Francesco Ielpo, OFM, the official Guardian of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, from entering the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, as they made their way to celebrate the Palm Sunday Mass. The two were stopped en route, while proceeding privately and without any characteristics of a procession or ceremonial act, and were compelled to turn back. As a result, and for the first time in centuries, the Heads of the Church were prevented from celebrating the Palm Sunday Mass at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. This incident is a grave precedent, and disregard the sensibilities of billions of people around the world who, during this week, look to Jerusalem. The Heads of the Churches have acted with full responsibility and, since the outset of the war, have complied with all imposed restrictions: public gatherings were cancelled, attendance was prohibited, and arrangements were made to broadcast the celebrations to hundreds of millions of faithful worldwide, who, during these days of Easter, turn their eyes to Jerusalem and to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Preventing the entry of the Cardinal and the Custos, who bear the highest ecclesiastical responsibility for the Catholic Church and the Holy Places, constitutes a manifestly unreasonable and grossly disproportionate measure. This hasty and fundamentally flawed decision, tainted by improper considerations, represents an extreme departure from basic principles of reasonableness, freedom of worship, and respect for the Status Quo. The Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem and the Custody of the Holy Land express their profound sorrow to the Christian faithful in the Holy Land and throughout the world that prayer on one of the most sacred days of the Christian calendar has thus been prevented.

There is a very common logical trap in failing to distinguish between what is and what should be. If I say X should happen, it doesn't mean it is happening. Or vice versa.

I let all the other reformed wh&re discourse pass by me, but you're right, this reset the low. In the churches I grew up in, everyone involved in this tweet (except the "prideful" virgin---"I have already judged, as though I were present") would rightly be under church discipline, including the pastor.

The Presbytery Inn
The Presbytery Inn@PresbyInn·
Many Anglicans are angry that non-Anglicans even have opinions on this. The RCs are swarming with "submit to Rome", nonconformist Protestants and low church evangelicals are taking about how this is mainline liberalism going metastatic. And those Anglicans have a right to be upset about the state of things but they should recognize that this is a tragedy for all of the Protestant world. Even if Presbyterians, Baptists, Methodists, and evangelicals left the Anglican church centuries ago, the CofE was the main character of Protestantism for many years throughout most of the world. It produced countless saints, it translated the Bible into foreign tongues, it spread simple, practical piety to far-flung regions of an empire on which the sun never set. For me as a Presbyterian, it's like being at your kid's birthday party and watching your ex-wife get drunk while he opens up Legos and Tonka trucks. Do I have a responsibility directly to the CofE? No. Do I care about her well-being because we share a common identity as Protestants and have to steward that together, regardless of our separation, and her shame and failure is genuinely tragic for me? Yes. Mocking the CofE at this point is just kicking it while it is down, and probably not the best response (unless some guy is telling you why this is good actually). We should recognize that this isn't primarily something that will be judged (though it will be), but rather that it is God's judgement for generations of not taking the faith seriously. And it should remind us that, but for the grace of God, this can happen to any Christian communion (and, indeed, already has in ours....this is Rome and the barbarians are at the gates).

An amazing gift to have so many resources available. I like your Sword System. :) Yeah, I use the Elect Standard Version (ha) for most things. I'm satisfied with it as a starting place, for me and for the people I preach to/teach. "Fan" might be a step too far. I've seen the Literal Word app before, but just downloaded it. I've had the Olive Tree app, with BHS and GNT and VLG plus half a dozen English translations for almost 20 years. But Literal Word looks clean, opens fast. Glad for your reference to it.

I might change my preferred Bible translation from ESV to BSB (Berean Standard Bible). Comparing the translations they are very close. BSB is a literal, readable English translation. Why the switch? ESV gatekeeps their translation. You need licensing to use the text of the ESV in apps or commentaries etc. The BSB was made to be public domain. It's free to use for anyone, like the King James Version, there is no license required and it's completely public domain. Great translation with a great philosophy. Very impressed. Check out the Berean Standard Bible. @bereanstanbible
