@dscottsibley @wisconsinfever @DPowell_PhD I have only ever ghosted someone once, and it was a bad situation for me that I felt unsafe in. I think oftentimes, people who ghost others in relationships do so because they are afraid of the reaction the (hookup or otherwise) parter will give, or don’t want to deal with it

@carolinguia @Kal1699 @Polar_Nerd For all people in household, each person in the household can receive one benefit per program year, and the state identifies people by social security number. Benefit amount is also based on household size so it’s important to make sure all people are identifiable.

@LilJnson @Kal1699 @Polar_Nerd Do you need a social security card for all people in a unit, or just one person ? It makes no sense to me why one person who qualifies gets denied assistance because someone else is also getting warm

@carolinguia @Kal1699 @Polar_Nerd Yes agreed, but in the last 2 years we’ve had higher rates of new applicants so that’s exciting, but yeah it’s unfortunate that it’s administered state by state instead of at the federal level

@LilJnson @Kal1699 @Polar_Nerd That is awesome to hear! I think the programs are administered inconsistently across regions and needed resources don’t necessarily reach everyone who should benefit from them, for a variety of reasons.

@carolinguia @Kal1699 @Polar_Nerd Beyond that, the requirements to apply are very simple (at least for my office)- there are income guidelines (differ by state), and we need proof of social security cards for all, utility bills, and proof of income/zero income. It’s not as hard as you probably think.

@LilJnson @Kal1699 @Polar_Nerd Not a terrible idea but these programs often run out of money (inadequately resourced) before community needs are met & requirements differ by state (i.e. the hoops they make people jump through to “prove” they deserve help)

@Kal1699 @Polar_Nerd Look up (your city) liheap, it is a low income home energy assistance program, helps low income families/people pay their electric bills, you can apply for assistance and they can help make a payment towards electric, heat, and maybe water and sewer :)
