@JasonKelce There’s not anymore room for another stadium plus parking in the sports complex. And being in center city it’s more accessible for fans that don’t live in the city and for fans that do live in the city.

To be clear, I would absolutely support the Sixers building their own arena in South Philadelphia. The renting thing isn’t fair to them, I just hate the strong arming of the city to force an inevitable move into an area that the local residents, and vast majority of Philadelphians don’t prefer be in center city. Again though, at the end of the day, we will all love it in 5-10 years when we have a beautiful new stadium in the heart of the city. It just pisses me off now, with the way it’s happening, and I’m gonna be pissed for the foreseeable future at how this is being forced currently. The threat of moving the team is bullshit, I hate it. Admittedly I was scarred growing up in Cleveland by Art Modell and the Browns, which the city of Cleveland messed up on, but it doesn’t change that I have a strong disdain for owners making these threats with zero care for what the fans or residents who support the team want.

Respectfully Jason, you have no clue what you’re talking about on this topic. Nobody was strong arming the city… the Sixers wanted to build their own arena once their lease was up at the Wells Fargo Center. Comcast didn’t like that and did everything in the power to try and stop them. The process took way longer due to Comcast along with the change in leadership. Philadelphia had a Mayor who didn’t care to a Mayor who does care. The Sixers made clear that they weren’t moving the team… it was other areas trying to entice them given the issues the Sixers were facing in Philadelphia.

@JasonKelce Thank you! Not only is this going to end up causing MASSIVE delays to traffic to the city but displacing one our city’s cultural centers is stupid. Sixers deserve their own arena, but that is literally the worst place to put it.
