@beeple Agreed on the smaller point. It all needs to be rethought of from the ground up for a lot of these. Many of us wear glasses daily, and totally understand and vibe with a future where our glasses have far more capability than they do now.

ok first off I want to start this Vision Pro review with some background. I have owned just about every major VR headset since the DK1. I also worked for a few years doing concepts for Magic Leap, and am EXTREMELY bullish on AR as the next era of computing.  I see this as completely inevitable and I think in 10-20 years we will all be wearing headsets round the clock. I also love Apple and have iPhone, iPad, AirPods, etc etc. I’m invested in them too and think they make amazing shit that has truly pushed humanity forward.  I also believe as a “cool” tech company they are uniquely positioned to usher in the future of wearable computing. Unfortunately the Apple Vision Pro is not V1 of that future anymore than the Apple Newton was V1 of the iPhone.  It’s a shitty product with zero market fit that solves no actual real world problems and does not move the ball forward on spatial computing in a meaningful way.   If you think anything it does is new, please look up videos of the HoloLens from like 2015. I was super disappointed when I first saw the initial videos of this form factor given the amount of clout Apple has to push us forward.  I was really hoping Apple would start to normalize wearing a computer on your face by making a computer you actually want to wear on your face.  I wanted an Apple Watch on my face, they gave me a MacBook Pro.  hard pass. tbh, I don’t think there will even be a meaningful version two of THIS product. This is not something that’s gonna be made mass market by their incremental improvements — I.e. making this 20% lighter is not gonna move the needle. This form factor needs a full reboot to become something anyone will wear or regularly use. I’m shocked to be saying this, but I think Meta is on the right track with their Ray Bans.  Start very LIGHT and ADD functionality from there as technology allows.   Unfortunately they started out MASSIVE and now have to SUBTRACT technology to make it something actually wearable. If we keep making headsets that are NOT ACTUALLY WEARABLE — which no AR / VR headset currently really are, it will be continue to be very niche. At the end of the day for AR to succeed it has to be BETTER than what we have now, not just a gimmick.  The V1 of iPod, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch succeeded because they were actually BETTER than existing products, not “gadgets”. Look, I get it, I’m just some chode bitching from the sidelines.  And I know we will eventually get there — but I think the path forward is through smaller glasses getting bigger, not bigger glasses getting smaller. TLDR;  this ain’t it. 😥

@CrypTatum @RomallSmith Is a bad argument, no one is getting ripped off. If this was the case we would get upset over 99% of anime that is in miyazaki style because Miyazaki doesn't get paid for it, but we don't, because it's not a valid argument.

@RomallSmith Bad art exists and has always existed, but it's a matter of taste. AI art rips off real artists. I believe that is the main reason people 'take issue' with AI art. Personally I think it all looks bad, but that's just my opinion.

I find it interesting that either of these can be used for a book cover and some people will only take issue with one of them. One is Ai, and the other is a stock image used in thousands of products. #writerscommunity

I strive to read or reread a book about the craft of writing every week. Sometimes they are development books sometimes they are autobiographies from one of the greats. This week since I'm not reading any fiction, I added a second development book. #WritingCommunity

Hello @MarioNawfal why is my name appearing in a deck to shill your marketing services when I have never done paid promotions or spoken with your IBC team? Unless you count my services as the times I called you out for spreading misinformation during the FTX incident.

Pacman is brilliant, I'll give him that. He understands the game. S2 could have ended with the blur airdrop, and blur would've tanked. He could've added staking blur for more blur, price still would've tanked. But promising a fresh mystery token? Now everybody is interested.

@boredape93 @0xPolygonLabs @sandeepnailwal Imo It's a mistake to use polygon anything for this because of their centralization and their historical complications with onboarding users new and old alike, should probably just be using optimism L2s like Base.

@ragggaprince @yugalabs Yep. But you pretty much nailed it, and why bother fixing anything if we don't admit something is wrong? The air is filled with the stench of corporate greed, and Yuga knows the sentiment in the space right now, they have people already, but they just don't seem to care.

My thoughts on @yugalabs: I couldn't put a finger on exactly how I felt about Yuga until now. I've been dancing around it for weeks, waking up in the middle of the night and writing a sentence here and there, not able to find the right words. I think this is about as close as I'm going to get for now: Yuga's PR strategy is baffling to me. It's essentially: "pretend that we don't make mistakes. If we do make mistakes, don't communicate what those mistakes are or when we expect them to be fixed. When we fix the mistakes, don't tell people that we fixed the mistakes because we don't want people to know there was a mistake in the first place." Candor and transparency is a core tenet of my personality so this way of operating feels like a personal affront. The way Yuga has been run since @dalegre hopped on board has been so corporate- and seemingly just the bad things about corporations: limited and sterile communication, lack of recognition of problems or accountability for them, and a seeming focus on metrics and profit above all else. Now, I have a bulletin board on the wall above my desk. On the bulletin board, I put things that I like- things that inspire me. Right in between the poem Invictus, a picture of Jim Rohn, and a picture of Ivan Orkin, I have a picture of @GordonGoner and @CryptoGarga. I love Yuga so much that I put a picture of its founders on my wall to look at every day (my girlfriend thinks I'm a little obsessed)... The company that Yuga was in its early days- and the company that I believe Yuga still has the potential to be- was so unique, so special, and so meaningful, that I put a picture of two dopey looking dudes on my wall. Over the last few months, it has begun feeling like that spark, that special thing, the thing that set Yuga apart from every other company in the world, the feeling that I get when I look at the picture of Wylie and Greg above my desk, has been relegated to a memory. It feels like the thing that made Yuga special is slowly, imperceptibly being snuffed out. Eventually, the company that I loved- the company that led me to put a picture of its founders on my wall- won't exist anymore. During the darkest time in World War 2 for Great Britain, Winston Churchill created a completely separate branch outside of the normal chain of command called the statistical office, whose only job was to feed Churchill the brutal, unvarnished realities of the war. Churchill writes: "I slept soundly and had no need for cheering dreams. Facts are better than dreams." This is what I believe Yuga needs. Yuga needs a "statistical office." They need a spy. They need someone who is in the trenches every day- not just in the @BoredApeYC server or the @OthersideMeta server, but private Discord servers with no affiliation whatsoever to Yuga- and whose only job is to communicate with and make note of the thoughts, criticisms, complaints, annoyances, suggestions, encouragements, and feelings of the community. Yuga needs to actively seek out, with fervor and intention, the brutal, unvarnished truth of what it is doing right and what it is doing wrong. This is the only the first step, however. Once Yuga has the facts, they need to take accountability for them, they need to communicate them, and they need to act on them. Gone are the days when the acceptable and ideal practice for a business within web3 was to drive speculation through mystery, vague communication, and uncertainty. Yuga should be so far beyond that at this point. Yuga needs to become comfortable with shedding the old mystery and speculation tactics in favor of personability and candor. Yuga, both internally and externally, needs to feel approachable- like anyone can say anything without worrying about repercussions or without worrying that what they are saying is falling on deaf ears. I implore Yuga to take a serious look at its relationship with the truth. They need someone who seeks and speaks the brutal, unvarnished truth- good or bad. I see this as the only way for Yuga to not only succeed beyond our little insulated space for decades to come, but, more importantly, to regain that spark and meaningfulness that made them so special to begin with. @yugalabs @dalegre @CryptoGarga @EverydayZukini @_jeffnicholas_ @0xQuit @Elektro2424 @NGBxShpend @ericbreid @mfigge @iandeborja @dannygreene @spicytinaa @lowbellie @_PPMan_ @pm0721 @MisterEthereum @0xMallocs
