Watching VCU play North Carolina and one of the dumbass pro-gerrymander commercials came on. This one featured vets talking about how they fought for this country so Democrats should rob millions of Virginians of their representation. 🚨Attention Virginians-Attorney Tim Anderson is keeping us abreast of the shady illegal tactics Democrats are using here in VA. This is not ok!! Dirty politics in play here. Let's get into the weeds. Delegate Kelly Fowler files a bill to amend Virginia Beach City Government charter to a 10-1 voting district. She puts an emergency clause on it - which FAILS because 4/5 of the General Assembly do not vote for it. So it goes to the Governor without an emergency clause - meaning - that it becomes law on July 1. Except... Gov Spanberger sends a Gov's Recommendation down which adds an emergency clause to the bill. The General Assembly passes the recommendation on party line votes (not 4/5) - and the bill becomes effective immediately. This is a dirty work around to the Virginia Constitution. Its not legal - and Virginia Beach should sue to challenge the enforceability of this bill. It can be law - but not until July 1. I don't mind the charter changing - voters voted for it - but to enact the change under emergency legislation - when 4/5 of the general assembly did not vote for it - is nothing short of ILLEGAL. The VA Constitution is nothing more than an inconvenience to Democrats intent on bypassing and flatly ignoring what the Constitution says when it is in their way.
