College football's most decorated head coach Nick Saban spoke at the White House on Friday at a college sports roundtable hosted by President Trump. Saban called on lawmakers to fix issues he has seen at the collegiate level, where Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals have turned the focus away from education. "How much does anybody talk about getting an education anymore? Nobody talks about it at all, which is the most important thing any of these student athletes can do in terms of enhancing their future."

In 2013, Brandon Marshall wore lime green cleats for mental health awareness. This gesture inspired the @NFL to start the "My Cause, My Cleats" initiative. Look for the causes that inspire players throughout the games this week 💪

#Cowboys DE Solomon Thomas was asked how he and his teammates can escape the grief of losing Marshawn Kneeland last week. The short answer: they can't, and they shouldn't try. The long answer is worth your time, too.

George W. Bush Presidential Center
Statement by President George W. Bush: "Today, a young man was murdered in cold blood while expressing his political views. It happened on a college campus, where the open exchange of opposing ideas should be sacrosanct. Violence and vitriol must be purged from the public square. Members of other political parties are not our enemies; they are our fellow citizens. May God bless Charlie Kirk and his family, and may God guide America toward civility."

The third annual Amazin' Mets Foundation Legacy Award has been given today by the Mets to @SlangsOnSports 👏 The award celebrates the people and organizations in the baseball community that are making a difference and driving impactful change, on and off the field From the Mets: "Sarah Langs is not only a brilliant baseball mind, with her vast knowledge of the game as a statistical analyst, but she is a powerful voice and a relentless advocate. In her fight with ALS, Sarah has raised awareness and inspired countless others throughout the baseball community. Sarah has reminded us that baseball is more than stats and scores, it’s about resilience, community, and lifting each other up. Sarah embodies everything the AMF Legacy Award stands for – courage, passion, and a commitment to making baseball better for everyone." Baseball Is The Best 🫶

Really happy for our 17u @NENorEastersbsb Runbirds who went 6-0 over the last 72 hours to capture a Perfect Game New England World Series crown. Owen Asadoorian went 💣 and is never not on base. Will Colucci was outstanding on the mound. That being said…

This event wound up raising $24 million. Panthers owners David and Nicole Tepper donated every dollar made at the stadium - a huge night for Charlotte. Luke Combs and Eric Church brought together a dozen country music superstars in front of an audience of 82,000+ — and thousands more via livestream — to raise money for Hurricane Helene relief in the region. Combs, a lifelong @Panthers fan, called David Tepper three weeks ago about the show and Tepper donated the stadium, sponsorships, suites, parking, and more to make the event possible. Big win for Carolina.

Hey followers. Can’t wait for the #ConcertforCarolina tonight at Bank of America Stadium. So proud to see country music star @LukeCombs with some help from @ESPNMartySmith and a host of others put together this event to benefit those impacted by Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina. I mean, @BillyStrings, @EricChurch, @KeithUrban, @SherlCrow, @TheAvettBros and so many others all together for a common cause. It blows my mind. I’ve been in the Asheville area multiple times since the storm and the funds are greatly needed to rebuild. But for the long-term survival of restaurants, small businesses, galleries, breweries – you name it -- the region needs you to return as soon as possible. That part hit home with me a few weeks ago at a fundraiser concert put on by the @SteepCanyon Rangers, the Grammy winning band from Asheville. Graham Sharp, banjo and song-writer extraordinaire, reminded of the need for tourism to return with a passionate and heartfelt message at the end. It was another reality check among a plethora of reality checks the past month since Helene. Graham was gracious enough to send me a video echoing those thoughts that I want to share with all of you, whether you are going to the concert tonight or not. I don’t usually ask, but if you feel as passionate about his words as I do please retweet or share this message on whatever social media platform you have to get the word out – Asheville and Western North Carolina need you. Plan a trip to the mountains. Among the destruction the beauty is still there.
