The first paper from the Crewe lab is online today. We found that macrophage-meditated clearance of EVs is a major determinate of circulating adipocyte EV levels. This clearance is disrupted in obesity. A huge effort by Snigdha Tiash! cell.com/cell-metabolis…

Excited to share our new publications working with @AlbertHKimMDPhD. We developed a stem cell model of glioblastoma (GBM) and uncovered how INSM1 programs a progenitor network that fuels GBM progression nature.com/articles/s4146…

Our body (cells) have fuel preference, e.g., burning fat vs. carbohydrates, which depends on the environment and nutritional states. How do cells decide which fuels to use?  Our new study found that carnitine biosynthesis is crucial for fuel switching science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

Peroxisome-dependent ether lipid down regulation is also a prominent feature of ME/CFS patient lipid profiles. Our prior work and this new study call for a clinical trial of sodium phenylbutyrate that can boost peroxisome function on Long COVID 🙏🙏@NIAIDNews

I find it interesting that sodium phenylbutyrate was found in this study and even @Jie_Immunology's science.org/doi/10.1126/sc… to help reverse this in lungs and now gut? Clinical trial soon?

Excited to see this work published in Nature Metabolism! This study provides new insight into how normally stable adipocytes can be mobilized under extreme metabolic stress, independent of sympathetic signaling. Congrats to @schellerlab and the team!

Very happy to start 2026 by sharing our new manuscript in Nature Metabolism.✨ By studying the constitutive adipocytes in the bone marrow, we identified a brain-mediated pathway that bypasses the SNS to evoke massive fat loss. 🧠🦴 Full article here: lnkd.in/gH7eHv4r

Thrilled to share our work on adipose tissue heterogeneity out today in @emboreports! Huge congrats to first author Hoang Bui, Juli Hansen, and our special collaborator @valelosardo for guiding us through the mysterious world of single-cell analysis! embopress.org/doi/full/10.10…

Happy to share new work led by outstanding former grad student Kubra Akkaya! Following up on our previous work, we show that Stearoyl-CoA Desaturases (SCDs) regulate intestinal stem and progenitor cell function and proliferation, shaping epithelial homeostasis and regeneration.
