My best friend just passed. It was totally unexpected, and not a single person could’ve seen it coming. This was the best guy I knew. A lawyer that worked for famous artists, basketball players, actors, you name it. He sold everything and made a life for himself just buying properties in Brazil. The best guy I’ve ever known. Smart as can be, 6’5, built like an ox, gregarious, and truly kind. A person I could speak to, and did speak to over 2 hours per day. I’ve been working and thinking so hard to make some meaning out of it, just due to suddenness of it. I’ve considered a few, but the one that maybe could resonate to some of you guys is this. I, like many of you, want to build something for myself. An estate. A family. Something I can look back and be proud of. I’ve been so shut in staring at a laptop, thinking of the latest AI openclaw skill or whatever, that I didn’t take a step back and listen to what my best friend was telling me. “Come to Brazil, have a good time, visit the beach, stay at one of my places.” I spent so much of time thinking I was building the best life possible, not realizing that the best things in life are temporary. Your best friend will die. Your favorite place will be conglomerated and filled with Bns. Your life isn’t just a cog in some giant system. There’s more to life than getting another client, or hitting another milestone. Idk. Maybe I just want to put into words what it’s like to feel you let something in your life pass you by. And I know I’m a heightcell. My friend was also a tallcel. Of mice and men game, that was what we called it.
