The geriatric activist is a particularly contemptible species of Canadian. Ever single day since the 1960s, these mouth-breathers have gotten out of bed and then proceeded to get in the way of someone useful. The extent to which they've dragged down society is incalculable.

Do you know the most patriotic drink you can have today? It's a wine from a little island controlled by Portugal. It was definitely the Founding Fathers' favorite drink, and it's likely the most important drink in American—and thus world—history. Let's talk about Madeira🧵

@QuetzalPhoenix Portuguese is the 3rd most widely spoken European language and 5th overall. That says something about Portugal's past influence. It has only the 14th biggest population in Europe.

While we are doing our autopsies of Keir Starmer’s unimpressive premiership, I’d like to suggest he is a prime example of a certain personality type that causes us problems. He has been a high achiever his whole life. From the 11+ onwards he passed tests and ascended every hierarchy he found himself in. This, I believe, shaped his worldview in a way that made him absolutely unsuited for the office. For Starmer, you accept the rules of the system, you play the game, and when you win you get rewards. Number 10 was just the last objective that he earned by mechanically playing society like a video game - it was his by right for ticking all the boxes correctly. His visible confusion and inability to grasp the job of actual leadership is, I think, a result of never having had to deal with the world beyond whichever social game he was playing at the time. Law is such a bounded game where a rigid, goal oriented thinker like Starmer can and did thrive. A better leader would be someone who has some experience doing something which contacts base reality, where outcomes are not socially determined. Business, STEM, the military etc all fall into this category. Those people who spend their careers in the purely social feedback loops of law and politics do I think make poor leaders even if they excel at the process that gets them to the leadership.

Lukashenko apologizes to Zelensky Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko has publicly apologized to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. “Maybe I went too far somewhere, but it was a response to his out-of-place statements. [...] If Volodymyr Alexandrovich was offended, I apologize to him for those words. Maybe I shouldn’t have spoken so harshly, considering that he is still at war.” Lukashenko also addressed Ukraine’s fears of a possible Belarusian attack from the north, saying that for him, entering the conflict is “unacceptable” because it would cause “more harm than good.” “Belarus is very vulnerable militarily if Ukraine starts attacking us the same way it attacks Russia,” he added.

@wil_da_beast630 Good one. Obviously other countries can't fight. Ukraine wouldn't be anywhere without Billions per year from Trump.... o wait. But the US can go it alone and win! like in Iran.

I wrote about the insanity of "medical privacy." It's hard now to do research that could cure major diseases because we are too worried about the handling of people's personal data, which they themselves appear not to care about. HIPAA was a mistake. richardhanania.com/p/privacy-vers…

It is so characteristically European. The man from a land which can barely afford, and mostly lacks, modern technologies such as ice makers, air conditioners, firearms, clothes dryers, dishwashers, and the like... .... he boasts instead of having a small piece of paper, issued to him by his government, whose sole use is to comply with the regulations of that government. He's right about me. I don't have a passport. Why not? Because I do not wish to travel outside of the United States. Not because conditions there are appallingly primitive. I could, and certainly would, be willing to rough it for a few weeks to see some of the great historical sites of Western civilization. And to meet of with some of the people who would make that civilization great again, were they not under the heel of unelected socialist bureaucratic parasites. But those parasites have created a police state, and I don't visit police states. They have disarmed the free peoples of Europe, imported enemies to stab them and rape their daughters, and used their police forces to protect those enemies rather than their own people. Their servants are quite willing to literally chain a man up, and watch him bleed to death, laughing at him as he slowly dies, all for no other crime than being a White man. Or to arrest a man, convict him, and throw him into prison for pointing any of this out. European governments have shown great enthusiasm for jailing their critics, an enthusiasm they do not share for concepts such "human rights" and "jurisdiction". So, would it be nice to see Europe, the place? Would it be nice to hang out with Europeans? Yes. Am I willing to disarm myself and enter the territory of totalitarian dictatorships for that opportunity? No. Until the Europeans (and other first world nations) clean the rats out of their respective homelands, I have no use for a passport. Unless I decide to visit El Salvador, I suppose.

I have already lost my job. I have already lost my income. I have already lost my benefits. Why? Because I said I stood with Israel and it sent Muslim faculty, administration and the Muslim Students Association into a frothing rage. All at a public Canadian university. My university invented defamation to destroy my reputation and let it run for two years and then admitted quietly it was false. But nobody cares about retractions - they care about the juicy gossip. Lies do not have a reverse gear. I have already spent two and a half years fighting alone because the union Opseu 562 - I paid roughly $15,000 in dues to - refused to represent me. Opseu hates Israel. Their president is a radical BDS supporter. Now my dues pay for their lawyers to harass and insult me at the Ontario Labour Board. So here is the question. Why are Humber College, the University of Guelph-Humber, OPSEU, and their lawyers still fighting to make sure that I am denied severance? Why spend millions to avoid paying out a fraction of that? Because OPSEU and Humber College’s hatred of Israel is that extreme. OPSEU’s executive member was recently caught saying they wish they could have participated in the Holocaust. Look it up yourself. torontosun.com/news/national/… The College? Their faculty publically calls Jews subhuman, devil worshippers and advocates for the destruction of Israel and the murder of nine million Israelis. See link below. I saved a small fraction before they could delete it. I posted a couple. It is a tax payer funded ideological crusade against one man. I added it up. They have 11 people fighting me. It’s a hell of an email queue. Most are paid about $800 an hour. On the taxpayer dime. The individuals whose actions are at the center of this controversy do not have to personally defend their decisions. They don’t have to even attend. The institutions do it for them. They send tax payer funded pit bull lawyers to fight one person. I have no lawyer. But Opseu and the U of Guelph and Humber are terrified. Because if one ordinary unremarkable person can successfully challenge powerful institutions, those institutions become accountable. It is that simple. docs.google.com/document/d/1Lc… The U of Guelph Humber has seen a 25% enrolment decline, they have amongst the lowest entry requirements in Ontario, they are now one of the worst universities in Ontario. The university needs to save money for their ideological crusades. Perhaps they need more money for Palestinian flags on stage at graduation. It’s extraordinary - a university that doesn’t focus on learning but on radicalism. If you hate Israel and want an easy degree go there. But this case is no longer about one professor. It is about establishing what views are acceptable and unacceptable within Ontario academia and organized labour. The institutions involved have spent years fighting to ensure they never have to admit wrongdoing, never have to compensate the person they targeted, and never have to acknowledge that what happened to a pro-Israel voice might have been wrong. That is why the fight continues. Not because I have power. Not because I have resources. Not because I have lawyers. But because if one ordinary person can successfully challenge powerful institutions, those institutions become accountable. Eleven people against one. Please don’t say it’s not my problem and let it go. Today they attack me. Tomorrow they may come after you or your loved one. Speak truth to power. GoFundMe link below. Not started by me. Please repost. If this is not confronted Jewish faculty, staff and students will never be safe at the U of Guelph Humber. ln.run/78m52 open.substack.com/pub/paulfinlay… #Ontario #AcademicFreedom #IsraelResilience #LabourRelations #Ontario #OPSEU #Israel #LabourRelations @adl @GuelphHumberUni @HumberPoly @GadSaad @DouglasKMurray @BenMulroney @benshapiro

Dear Europeans: Yes, we understand that central air is hard to build into old homes. Yes, we also understand that your windows are a bit different. But here's the part that confuses us. Why do you have to buy window A/C designed for American windows? Why can't Europeans, living in Europe, design A/C units to fit European windows, for other Europeans, who live in Europe? Yes, Willis Haviland Carrier was an American, but he solved this problem in 1902. You have had over one hundred years to adapt his work to a slightly different aperture. Do you not build things anymore? Are there some regulations preventing you? Will your neighbors just relentlessly shame you for having air conditioning? Seriously, unsarcastically, what the hell is the obstacle, here?
Alyse@mrs_alyse

"Who told the idiot Americans we can't open our windows?" You did. You said your windows don't open to accommodate ac units. Others posted actual regs saying they can't fully open, or bars have to be installed, reno projects are hard to get approved, etc.

@stephmce @Devon_Eriksen_ Dozens, ohhh. I will be in 4 european contries. This year. I have relatives who live in Europe and I have been in their houses, I have shopped in European hardware stores where they have dozens of A/C units units for sale. Sounds like you are just another loud mouth American.

Who cares? The conversation has absolutely nothing to do with you and your travels don't make you an expert. Let's be real... you're just another Canadian who found an opportunity to bitch about Americans. When I called you out on your dumb narrative, you now claim Americans can't have an opinion because most haven't been to Europe. Like you need an opinion to see someone bitching about heat and asking why AC isn't an option. And btw, I've been to a dozen or so European countries so your assumptions about American travel are just that.

Even *if* that’s true, my timeline was still full of Europeans complaining about the heat and telling us we don’t understand how hot it is there. Europeans are simultaneously claiming Americans are dumb for: 1) not understanding how hot their 84°F heat wave really is (while those of us in southern states consider 84°F a mild spring day) 2) suggesting AC to combat the “heat” You can’t have it both ways.

Those statistics aren't accurate. They cover all European deaths where heat might have been a factor. American stats are for deaths where heat was the only factor. I would be surprised if the numbers for the US were higher than Europe's if measured the same way. There are community notes on it.

- Timeline is full of Europeans complaining about how hot it is and how even Americans say it’s hot there. - We’ve seen the statistics about how many Europeans die of heat-related deaths annually. (!!!) - Americans ask why you don’t have AC and your response is, “we don’t need it, Americans are retarded.”
