Massive Fire Destroys Cooling Towers at Decommissioned P.H. Robinson Plant in Galveston County A significant fire occurred early Sunday at the former P.H. Robinson Generating Station in Galveston County, Texas, leading to the destruction of two cooling towers and a partial structural collapse. Firefighters from various agencies successfully contained the fire, which produced heavy smoke over Bacliff and San Leon, resulting in health advisories and a limited shelter-in-place order for vulnerable residents in San Leon. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, with concerns regarding possible hazardous materials from the long-abandoned facility.
