My musical tribute to Football Focus: the BBC One football show which is to end this summer after 52 years. As a kid I spent many Saturday lunchtimes watching it when it was part of Grandstand. Here’s the Grandstand theme by Keith Mansfield. @BBCSport @BBCMOTD @BBCRadio3

The Stoke hierarchy must be praying the Addicks don't finish above us this season. Alex Neil, an awful manager for us, yet now able to perform so well at Millwall. But Nathan Jones besting us, that would beg tough questions about the entire modus operandi inside #SCFC

@1968Tv Wonderful stuff and so true about the commentary. Motty was a natural & nobody behind the mic expressed the joy of football quite like him.

Back in July 1982 as a 15 year old, this was peak World Cup. School just finished, so ran home for the 4:15 pm kick off (which I did for every game) which was LIVE on the BBC. One of the greatest World Cup matches of all time, with great commentary. Italy v Brazil will always go down as a classic for me and for many others of a similar age, who wanted to get home in time to watch the World Cup. #WorldCup

🚨BREWDOG COLLAPSES INTO ADMINISTRATION WITH £500 MILLION DEBT — EQUITY FOR PUNKS INVESTORS TOTALLY WIPED OUT! The once-rebel craft beer empire founded by James Watt has officially been placed into administration after racking up debts exceeding £500 million (£553.8m owed to creditors). A pre-pack rescue deal to US firm Tilray for £33m (brewery + 11 bars) left a £480m shortfall. Thousands of small investors who bought shares through the heavily-promoted “Equity for Punks” crowdfunding scheme have been told their stakes are now completely worthless. 38 pubs closed and 484 staff made redundant. The anti-establishment brand that once valued itself at £2bn is in ruins. £500 million pound debt...wow James Watt and wife Georgia Toffolo (below)

Tony Pulis: “When we got promoted at Stoke, I called Sir Alex Ferguson up. He told me: Your best chance is making the Britannia a place no-one wants to go. If any of the top teams go there and praise you, you’re not doing it right. The bottom line is football is about winning and if you don’t win football matches you aren’t going to be in the job very long. I never forgot what he said, and as a result we narrowed the pitch in, grew the grass and brought Rory Delap into play. We found a way to win and it worked. I don’t think I’ve ever been at a football stadium where the crowd and team were so together, we used to play the top teams and the place used to light up.”

Views on Rory’s inventive wine list ? Premier Crus Bordeaux, Exclusive White Burgundy. Iconic most well known and expensive Sauterne and ultra expensive small house champagne. Could be decided by just browsing the dearest bottle in a Carte du Vin at your nearest Nobu? … meh

I know many people miss the sound of Richie’s voice on commentary. He’s probably still widely regarded as the best tv cricket commentator. But, if Richie remains at #1, who would you put at #2? I’m genuinely interested to see who people pick. Radio commentators need not apply!

@peteoconn I think Bosun is our best player and has by far the highest ceiling out of all of them. I hope Robins can find a permanent position in midfield for him eventually because that’s where he will do the most damage.

Sorba Thomas very silly but that is one of the most cowardly things I have seen for a long time by the Swansea no17. Should be embarrassed for doing that to a fellow pro.

This isn't me being a smug Caribbean dweller, but I always found it odd that so many raced to live in the Middle East, a hotbed of religious/geo-political tensions, reliant on Dubai's dubious promises. It's a mirage in the desert, a chimera, yet so many fell for its charms.
