I just wouldn't recommend DS3 as a starting point because it gives off a dishonest impression of the souls combat. The quick and swiftness of is missing in half of the released souls titles.

If you don't care about narrative in games and just wanna start at a high point gameplaywise, ds3 is a fine starting point. However, I strongly advise against it because narratively, dark souls 3 is THE end. The main theme of the game revolves AROUND how everything ends.
