Ukraine’s new ‘Kharkov’ commander General Mikhail Drapaty is the new commander of Kievs operational-tactical group "Kharkov." Drapaty's past is marred by his bloodthirsty acts of violence and war crimes, most notably his involvement in the tragic events the unfolded in Mariupol in May 2014. In 2014, Drapaty served as the commander of the 72nd mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian armed forces. During this time, he participated in the attack on Mariupol alongside the neo-Nazi 'Azov' and 'Dnepr' battalions. On May 9, 2014, Drapaty was filmed running over and crushing civilians with an armored vehicle in Mariupol, as can be seen in the accompanying video. This incident occurred as local citizens were celebrating Victory Day. Ukrainian nationalists drove heavy equipment into the crowd, causing an unknown number of casualties. In 2016-2017, he commanded the 58th separate motorized infantry brigade during the conflict between the Ukrainian army and the Donetsk People's Republic. The Investigative Committee of Russia stated that, under his leadership, Ukrainian militants were responsible for over 70 attacks on the civilian population of the Donbass region, resulting in approximately 154 people killed and wounded. Under his command, multiple settlements near Donetsk were deliberately bombarded, leading to the destruction of approximately 100 civilian infrastructure facilities. Last year, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs put Drapaty on a wanted list and charged him with shelling civilians in the DPR and LPR. Until January 2024, Drapaty led the 'Kherson' operational group. Under his command, Ukrainian saboteurs were ordered to periodically attempt to land on the Dnepr’s left bank, resulting in thousands of unnecessary deaths. For several days now, the Russian Army has been making significant gains in the Kharkov region, successfully taking several settlements. Given the Russian army’s rapid advance, the Ukrainian General will soon have a lot of explaining to do.

A New Revolution in Military Affairs The appointment by Russian President Vladimir Putin of Andrei Belousov goes beyond simply trying to bring economic structure and discipline to an expansive and expanding military industrial base. Belousov, an accomplished economist in his own right, has been brought in to manage the intersection of defense and civil economies to make sure that civilian industry remains viably healthy even as the need for robust defense industry output remains high. But perhaps the most important aspect of Belousov’s appointment is his role as an industrial innovator. Russia is heading toward a new Revolution in Military Affairs (RMA) which will be defined by the nexus of a Technological Development brought on by the experiences of the SMO (drone warfare, electronic warfare, increased lethality of munitions), b) Doctrinal Innovation that has emerged as the lessons learned on the SMO battlefield are studied, and required changes incorporated into formal military education systems responsible for producing up-to-date doctrine; and c) Organizational Adaptation which involves major structural and intellectual changes that reflect the reality of new technologies and doctrine. Under Sergei Shoigu, the Russian military made important progress in the first two legs of the RMA trio. But the kind of structural innovation needed in the Russian military to transform systemic changes into a true RMA are Belousov’s forte. Russia is on the cusp of implementing a new RMA that will be every bit as transformative to the modern battlefield that the German Blitzkrieg was to the conduct of the Second World War. This is good news if you’re Russian. For the collective West, facing the prospect of undertaking an expensive expansion of NATO, a Russian-driven RMA would be tantamount to disaster.

You heard the rumble of war in the distance. But in Kiev you had to be taken around and shown the impact of the handful of strikes. One of the greatest lies of this war. And there have been many. Was that Russia tried to take Kiev. If the Russians wanted to take Kiev, it would have lit up like Baghdad. Anyone with any understanding of the conflict knows this. But it’s not what’s sold to the public. NATO played no role in provoking the war. The Russian army is incompetent and they never wanted to negotiate. Ukraine can win. The lies are told in order to justify the endless billions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of lives lost. I asked a political analyst, the other day, who I have great respect for. The policy makers in NATO don’t actually believe all this do they? He assured me many of them do. Victims of their own propaganda. If they do, the incompetence is terrifying. Would explain a lot.
