Just before meeting with the leaders of Karamoja, I launched Phase 5 of the National Backbone Infrastructure (NBI) in the Karamoja Subregion. This initiative emphasizes four key sectors aimed at modernizing households and transforming the economy: commercial agriculture, industry, services, and information and communications technology (ICT). The NBI will reduce the cost of doing business and connect all administrative units, including support for the Parishes implementing the PDM. I would like to express my gratitude to the Government of China for its support of various projects in Uganda through soft loans obtained via the Exim Bank of China, including this particular project. I also want to thank the Ministry of ICT and NITA Uganda for their dedicated efforts.

@nia_mokgadi Ha ha ha! What a fallacy! Has Trump been in communication with Kim Jong-un to tell his views about Obama? And, indeed, who cares about Kim Jong-un's views about anyone or anything, after all?

@NationOnlineMw This is a telling threat. What does the mayor not know about corruption in the organisation which he leads?

Makwinja: If they fail to provide the names of the said officers within seven days, we will instruct our lawyers to pursue the matter further.

Incredible inhumanity! Who in their right mind would do this to a fellow human being, regardless of their race?

@DrTedros @WHO @UN He was a man of peace in a world of war, as one journalist called him. A consummate diplomat and global arbiter of peace, he wrestled the dragons of war and defeated them with his innate peaceful values.

Kofi Annan touched so many lives. Very few people know that he actually started his diplomatic career at @WHO headquarters in 1962, as a budget officer. His journey towards top @UN leadership is an inspiration, and six years since he passed, his legacy remains an aspiration to continue working towards a healthier, safer, fairer and above all a more peaceful world for all. @KofiAnnanFdn

@ThePhDPlace This is so real. I feel dumb now that I am on my PhD journey. It'll take much unlearning afterwards to regain my self confidence.

@PhDVoice Take the job. Sometimes practical experience in your field of research trumps academic experience especially when you're pitching up yourself for a career in consulting.

PhD Voice - Independently Run
Anonymous question “I am finishing my PhD and what I want to do next is to get a postdoctoral position as I’m very into the Academia. I have not been lucky enough to find this position yet, however, I have just been offered a very good position in the industry. As bills have to be paid and as I cannot afford to be unemployed until something came up, I’m planning to take this job and staying on it for about a year and a half, which is the minimum period of compromise with this company. In the meantime I want to keep applying for postdoctoral positions. However I have my concerns with this plan because I have the sense that working on an industry job would make me less attractive to be considered for postdocs. I want to know if working in corporate could negatively affect my Academic career as I won’t be publishing papers nor doing research for a couple of years. Should I accept the job and be compromised a year and a half with this company, or should I just decline the offer and keep looking for a postdoctoral position?” #PhDVoice @PostdocVoice

Most people ask which tribe I’m from and I proudly announce that I am from the Ngoni tribe. Today, my father is attending a special occasion and he is wearing “Dzibiya” (traditional Ngoni regalia). It communicates his place as a proud Ngoni man. My father’s tribal name (mfunda) is Maguja. If you want to greet him, you say: “Wawa Maguja.” Just out here celebrating my father. 🥹🙏🏾🇲🇼

My mom Marian Robinson was my rock, always there for whatever I needed. She was the same steady backstop for our entire family, and we are heartbroken to share she passed away today. We wanted to offer some reflections on her remarkable life: barackobama.medium.com/statement-on-t…

I recently moved to Melbourne for work and live in a unit in the northern suburbs. I woke up this morning to this letter pinned to my front door. So much for having pleasant neighbours.

@AUC_MoussaFaki I didn't know this. Why do we go all the way to Romania to procure fertilizer from a pharmaceuticals wholesaler, and to the UK from a butcher?

Some African countries produce fertilizers but we depend mostly on imported #fertilizers, which are expensive for our farmers.Yet the African Center for Fertilizer Dvlpmnt in #Zimbabwe exists since 1982.We must optimise use of such existing Continental assets to boost local production & deliver quality, affordable fertilizers #AFSH24

Sadio Mane 🗣️"I am very happy to announce the completion of a primary to high school that I built with my own funds in my country Senegal. I have also invested in infrastructure to connect 16 villages in Senegal to give them access to roads, markets, water and electricity among others, while creating essential job opportunities for young people. To encourage discipline through sport, I have recently completed and inaugurated a football stadium, a football academy in Senegal and bought a football club in France to encourage professionalism, discipline and the sportsmanship of young people."
