@annaxmalina Thank you for sharing and for the work. I have interpreted it more rebellious, but maybe that’s ok, too.

thank you so dearly for collecting this very personal piece from secondary, @Louis___M {♡}
i made this when it became obvious that my grandpa would die soon and life felt suspended into a dreadful "waiting". i felt nauseous all the time; a feeling i tried to document here

For the February issue of Photonews I discussed the value of images in the age of AI with Kevin Abosch, and why we may be witnessing a renaissance of photography.
»Digital art doesn’t need protection through separation; it needs to be allowed to operate in dialogue with the rest of contemporary practice. Otherwise, we end up mistaking the medium for the meaning. (…)
While technical literacy is important, it can also become a way of avoiding more difficult cultural questions: how authorship is defined, how images acquire meaning and value, and how photographic trust is constructed. Those issues aren’t technical problems; they’re historical and ethical ones.«
– Kevin Abosch

In 2016, Kevin Abosch sold a photo of a potato for more than $1 million. In 2018, he sold a digital artwork of a rose for $1 million. At the time, »Forever Rose« was the world’s most valuable crypto-artwork ever sold. At Art Basel Hong Kong, Kevin Abosch (presented by Taex), among others, will show »Goldfish«.

@DagieDee Yes it does. Like your take on digital objects pinned to a certain point in history. Have you read Douglas Davis thinking Benjamin's Aura? He sees the aura disappear but re-appear performatively each time viewers see a work.

★★★ That is what I highly embrace. The infrastructure becomes the medium & "Collectors become nodes in a distributed cultural network, amplifying access."
→ Especially in my practice, where I speculate about what humanity would look like from the network's perspective – my networked sculpture "songs of algorithm" in the collection of @Louis___M

→ How do we relate to the machines surrounding us?
→ "Making kin with machines: What if we used AI not to mirror ourselves, but to dissolve the boundaries of the self? Could this open toward a new understanding of identity — not as something we possess or describe, but as an ongoing process of becoming with our surroundings: algorithms, machines, social relations, biological systems, and our own bodies?".

Last night marked one of the most meaningful moments in my art life, as I guided 80 ppl thru my suspended labyrinthine Being Borges bestiary, reading my poems as I advanced.
At the end, a museum director gave me his card, asked if I did commissions, said I restored his faith in so much.
More to come 🙏
