Correct yourself! It's so much more engaging and helpful than just asking simple knowledge based questions.

The trick is to make failure quick and low stakes, make it fun.
Ask questions often, make EVERY student get a question wrong. Ask trick questions that subvert expectations, ask open ended questions.

unfortunately i very much feel affirming to students that being asked a question in class is anxiety-inducing and is something that it's valid to opt out of only makes them far more anxious in the long term

i know a guy whose entire diet was like 3 children's foods. he married an exceptionally patient and nice lady, went to therapy, and he has a completely normal diet now. goes out for Thai. loves hot wings. there is hope
