The land under these panels will never be farmed again. Potato growing associations nationwide will not buy potatoes grown on ex-solar sites. Why? The panels leach heavy metals, as well as drop glass shards and microplastics onto the soil below them. In a mass commercial arrangement, vegetation below the panels is soaked in herbicides. The fertile farmland is gone forever.

Stop tilling. Tilling releases far more nutrients than plants need. Tilling destroys soil structure and life. Tilling is a fast way to turn good soil into worthless dirt.

I am sick and tired of people mocking those who care about the planet. Clean air matters. Living forests matter. Healthy oceans matter. Animals matter. Biodiversity matters. Wanting a livable world for future generations should not be controversial.

@strong_sistas The truth is, data centers will take less than 1% of all available commodity crop land. And truth is… commodity crops are not that healthy for the soil and environment anyways right?

A 35 acre farm by me was just sold to a data center for $60,000 an acre. Farmers are struggling, and data centers have big bucks 😢 farm land has never been more precious.

This farmer is working hard to get the ground ready for planting! Does everyone know what the white stuff is, that's being tilled into the ground? And what's its primary purpose? For what crops? Can some farmers help us newbies and city folks out! What's the white stuff and what's it for?

Congratulations to new Nobel Peace Prize laureate María Corina Machado for her courageous struggle to bring democracy to Venezuela. It should inspire those engaged in similar struggles around the world - and remind those of us lucky enough to live in America that we have a solemn responsibility to constantly preserve and defend our own hard-won democratic traditions.

BREAKING NEWS The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided to award the 2025 #NobelPeacePrize to Maria Corina Machado for her tireless work promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela and for her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy. #NobelPrize

Yesterday, batteries supplied 27% of the power at peak demand in California. A true "energy dominance" policy agenda would recognize the massive benefits of solar + storage.

Wind and solar energy cannot power America alone—when the wind slows and the sun sets, the grid needs DEPENDABLE energy. Our nation is home to vast untapped resources—coal, natural gas, and nuclear energy deliver UNWAVERING power for generations! 🙌🏻

@duncancampbell I have multiple oil refineries basically in my backyard, as well as several other petro chemical sites surrounding them. And several neighbours have solar panels. And there's a nearby solar farm. Would much prefer the refineries.

Seems hard to communicate this to the "don't put solar on farm land" folks. We are already using an insane amount of farm land TO PRODUCE ENERGY (not food). Solar is just a *MUCH* more energy dense, efficient, and cost-effective use of this land.
Simon Mahan@SimonMahan

Roughly 30–40% of U.S. corn production — about 30 million acres — is dedicated to ethanol. That same land area could support around 5,000 gigawatts of solar capacity, which is 3–4 times the total nameplate capacity of the entire U.S. electric grid. We don't have a land problem.
