There was a greater gap in SLG% between Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani last season than the gap between Shohei Ohtani and George Springer.

@ooootanisanmmm Judge was playing with one arm in the 2025 postseason, couldn’t even throw it to the infield due to an elbow injury but batted .500 anyway, .600 in the ALDS. Absolutely no praise or grace for that. We only remember the other postseasons conveniently.

Friendly reminder Shohei Ohtani went 2-for-19 in the 2024 World Series and it’s never been criticized. Aaron Judge went 4-for-18 in the same series and it’s still criticized every day.

And Judge had an elbow injury that prevented him from being able to throw in field from the outfield, but that apparently doesn’t grant him any grace when we’re talking about the 2025 postseason because he didn’t earn his team a championship. Even though he hit .500 — .600 in the ALDS. See what I mean? Double standards.

@LukeT39 @joonlee It makes sense to hate him at 15. Children should be optimistic about their team. Adults should be able to take rational criticism or at least recognize when the writer is just being a dick. No one who actually covers the team takes a negative spin anymore and we are worse for it

People have a version of Dan Shaughnessy in their head. Mine is the guy who was incredibly kind to an 18 year old who had no business being taken seriously.
He's been one of the genuinely kindest people in Boston media for years. Well deserved.

Perspective on the DR’s baseball dominance—the entire country’s population is roughly ~11.5M. That’s about 320M less people than the United States. And STILL, they’re a global baseball powerhouse. Coolest guys around.
