It’s hard to explain but in order to be a really good racist you have to low key love every race.

I wonder if the racism taboo will eventually come to be seen everywhere as quaint, old-fashioned, archaic even, like Victorian attitudes to sex and bodily functions.

One of the hardest things about Catholicism is accepting Gods unwavering love for you. Very easy to accept that you are unloveable it means you don’t have to try you can give up you’re worthless but if you are always loved it means you always have a responsibility and a duty

The only way to morally justify the existence of flatulent crabby middle-aged and old people is through their support and protection of the young and joyful. An ancient truth recently forgotten to terrible, terrible consequence.

It's a curious and, perhaps, telling fact that what we experience as meaningful is inextricably linked to mystery.

@david_perell One of my PhD Econometrics professors said, wisely, "You always understand your next to last econometrics class." That is, you have to go to more advanced material to understand the simple material. And you never grasp your last class in the subject.

I hope one day there’ll be a book on Trump as good as Robert Caro’s books on Lyndon Johnson. Seems unlikely I’ll live to read it though given that Caro’s volume covering LBJ’s actual Presidency still isn’t out… Real history takes a while to write.

You are supposed to fly a nations flag upside down to signal distress, and I think the fact that nobody even notices when our flag is upside down is a metaphor.
