A patient-led prostate cancer research project grounded in the lived experience of patients and partners, with real potential to inform future practice. Early phase 1 results for HS-20093, a B7-H3-targeted ADC, add to a growing sense that Small Cell #LungCancer may finally be starting to move. In ARTEMIS-001, responses were seen in 52.3% of evaluable people with relapsed extensive-stage SCLC. SCLC cannot keep being overlooked in research, access and policy across Europe. #LCSM cell.com/cancer-cell/fu…

This short article, in a few paragraphs, describes fully all of the challenges the HSE is faced with, that voluntary hospitals are not as much bound by. I know FOR SURE, that across the West NorthWest Hospital group, there are not enough Dayward chairs or specialised nurses to enable systemic cancer treatments to be delivered on time. The available capacity is insufficient to meet the demand, within a timeframe that the HSE itself sets as a standard. Internally, when you point out a clear resource/capacity deficit, the typical response, ultimately, if you persist long enough and find the right person to talk to, is this: "I agree that this is a reasonable problem, but I have no available resources to address this problem at this time". The result is corrosive. It is the nurses and doctors who have to apologise to patients, all day, every day, for capacity deficits that are out of their control. On a similar note, the position of Clinical Director of the National Cancer Control Programme is currently advertised: about.hse.ie/jobs/job-searc… Closing date is 8th April 2026 The job: fix cancer services in public hospitals. The budget: zero euros Reporting to the HSE that there are no capacity deficits in cancer, and telling nurses and doctors that deliver cancer care to work harder to fix the capacity deficits is desired, but not essential. In post training will be provided. Probably.

Great to see the launch of HPV Network Ireland on #HPV Awareness day 👏 HPV is common in both men & women and can cause 6 types of cancer, so it's important to be aware and to take action - get the #HPV vaccine if eligible - prevention is a true gift. #HPV #CancerRiskFactors

I used to think that if you were polite, kind, thoughtful, clear and rational, that that would be enough to make it clear to those who have control over public healthcare resource allocation where to spend money to make things work better. It turns out that is not enough.
