📝 Chronic illness isn’t lived in appointments - it’s lived in the gaps between them. In healthcare we meet people in fleeting moments; for patients and families the story keeps running, day and night. 👇👇👇👇 open.substack.com/pub/davetriska…

@Taxkourel @Bethfaiman Agreed, and thank you Tax! I think IFM 2017-03 and REST are proof positive that neither dara nor isa require any pre-meds (including dex) after 8 weeks - and to be honest I often stop earlier…

@shiv_smith @claire_taylor22 @alisonleary1 @gbtpo See Roy’s post today Shiv who (as usual) gets to the heart of it. The paradox is if we increase CA diagnosis but not workforce numbers how we will hold onto those senior experienced cancer nurses holding on by their fingertips - need to urgently consider retention (+ recruitment)

We need an RCT to work out whether there is any benefit at all to venesection or whether we can simply see once in clinic and discharge the vast majority of patients who do not have JAK2 mutation. Well done to @PipNicolson and supported by @HaemSTAR_UK.

Brilliant to see trial 👇🏻published with such great results & publicity. Prof @vic_coyle from Northern Ireland is the UK lead for this trial, an oncologist, academic & lead for @nicancertrials ECMC. She works tirelessly to improve outcomes for patients & an all-round super person.

The most practice changing trial from #ASCO25 is now live on @NEJM .If this was a drug, this would be approved today. Globally relevant and low-cost intervention that is not only delaying relapse but actually improving survival. Perfect case example of a #cancergroundshot trial. nejm.org/doi/full/10.10…

Well I’m done! A few more sessions still underway but my 🧠capacity has closed! So much to reflect on & take back to practice. Lovely 2 network with old & new Haem peeps. The one thing I’d like to see more of- nursing & AHP sessions 😉🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 #BSH2025 @BritSocHaem @UKONSmember

We stop all premeds (steroids, antihistamines, and acetaminophen) after cycle 1 for both IV and SQ dara. If someone has had reactions with even the last dose of cycle 1, then for that patient, these may be continued, but otherwise no.   Here is a paper on our experience.   ascopubs.org/doi/full/10.12…   2) Same DVT prophylaxis as you would do for Rev in any situation. No difference with or without Dex.
Lisa lyons@Lyons_LM

For those reducing dexamethasone in patients on DRd or Dara monotherapy, do you stop Dex pre-meds before Daratumumab? Have you seen increased infusion reactions? And for DRd, what thromboprophylaxis do you use if Dex is reduced/stopped? #myeloma #downwithdex
