He didn't just buy those two pizzas—he spent tens of thousands more BTC on Papa John's that year to keep proving Bitcoin's real-world use. The deal was finalized over IRC chat, not just the forum. The actual on-chain transaction was 10,001 BTC including a 1 BTC fee. Jeremy Sturdivant ("jercos") the pizza seller; spent his coins quickly on a US road trip with his girlfriend and everyday expenses—he viewed Bitcoin as "living currency," not an investment. Laszlo even became the first to buy pizza again via Lightning Network in 2018. No regrets from either man.
