As the only Asian nation participating in the International Space Station, Japan holds tremendous potential to lead in the private space sector. In my role as Axiom Space's Astronaut and Chief Technology Officer, I'm honored to contribute to strengthening Japan's capabilities and forging new partnerships with many countries that have historically had limited access to space. In particular, the historic district of Nihonbashi in Tokyo is rapidly emerging as a vibrant hub for Japan's growing space industry and private-sector innovation. The future of space is collaborative, accessible, and full of opportunity!

Following Monday’s spacewalk, Chinese taikonaut Zhang Lu has now completed six EVAs, making him one of the nation’s most experienced spacewalkers! ✨ But he's not the only one. Do you know who else has also done six spacewalks? 🤔

Congratulations. Shenzhou-21 crew Zhang Lu, Wu Fei & Zhang Hongzhang completed a 7-hour spacewalk, installing debris protection devices with robotic arm & ground support. Zhang Lu now ranks among one of China's astronauts with most space walks.

I love how this number plate connects my journeys on Earth with my journey into space—though in terms of kilometres traveled, the two won’t match anytime soon. The number on the plate is the one I carried aboard Crew Dragon to space, while the plate itself was mounted on my car in Houston after my return. Here’s the story. To earn astronaut wings, one must cross the altitude threshold of 60 miles (100 km)—the invisible Kármán Line. What’s also fascinating is that every astronaut is assigned an explorer number, marking their sequence among those who have traveled beyond this boundary. As you can see, I was number 634. Throughout this journey, people have shown extraordinary kindness in ways that are truly heartening. One such moment happened in the U.S. Before my departure, my friend Sreejith—who had also arranged cars for us during our stay—registered a number plate for me: SHUX 634. I have always believed that human space missions are magical. And the real magic has always been the humans. #shux #space #shubhanshushukla #axiom4 #india

Olavtoppen, at 780 m altitude, is the highest peak on Bouvet Island. Lykketoppen, at 766 m altitude, is the second highest peak on Bouvet Island. Olavtoppen was first ascended on 2012-02-20 by a group led by Aaron Halstead, joined by Bruno Rodi, Jason Rodi, and William Allen. A second ascent followed on 2012-02-21, again led by Halstead, joined by Sarto Blouin, Chakib Bouayed, Akos Hivekovics, Cindy Sampson, and Seth Sherman.

Excuse me @NASAAdmin @rookisaacman Is the plan for the first Artemis missions at the moment meant to be similar to the first Apollo missions on purpose? Artemis 2 - Apollo 8 Artemis 3 - Apollo 9/10 Artemis 4 - Apollo 11 If so, I think that is pretty damn cool!!!🌎🚀🌕🇺🇸

We're celebrating 90 years since the birth of our favorite leapling, astronaut Jack Lousma! 9️⃣ 0️⃣ 🎉 A few highlights from his NASA career: • He was the CAPCOM in Mission Control when the Apollo 13 crew reported they "had a problem." • He landed a space shuttle in New Mexico. It was the only time a shuttle landed at a site other than California or Florida. • He is one of just a few astronauts to take a shower in space!

Weekends are meant for relaxing — at least, that’s the idea. In orbit, though, life runs on a timeline precise to every five minutes. The screen that you see in the background, isn’t just a schedule; it’s a carefully choreographed plan that guides each task, each transition, each moment of the day broken into 5 minute intervals. Amid that structured rhythm, there were instances that felt quietly surreal. On one such day, I was reviewing my procedure for an upcoming activity, mentally rehearsing each step, when I realized I was effortlessly suspended in midair. No floor, no chair — just stillness. Once it registered, it seemed only right to capture the moment. There I was, floating freely, stable without support. If weekends are for chilling, space certainly offers its own elegant version of it. #shux #space #shubhanshushukla #india #axiom4

After overnight data showed an interruption in helium flow in the SLS interim cryogenic propulsion stage, teams are troubleshooting and preparing for a likely rollback of Artemis II to the VAB at @NASAKennedy. This will almost assuredly impact the March launch window. @NASA will continue to provide updates as they become available.

@MattGialich I care more about when the first humans in LEO. It took the Dragon nearly 10 years to go from its first uncrewed flight to its first crewed mission. Once Starship is human-rated, the Moon and Mars will be within the reach.

@tetsuoai To be clear, we are still going to do Mars. I don’t think this change affects the time to a Mars city being self-growing by more than 5 years and it might turn out to accelerate Mars.

Nope this is not AI. It is an actual photo, taken from the 1st Falcon Heavy launch, which took place on this week in 2018! Based on the fact it was a maiden flight, there was apparently some hesitancy on what the payload would be. Elon Musk, being Elon, decided to put in his cherry-red Tesla roadster, complete with a spacesuit clad-mannequin named Starman. Epic! Oh…, and by the way…, #NeverBetAgainstElonMusk!

The weather and orbital mechanics cooperated, giving us a great @Space_Station pass over @NASAKennedy for the Artemis II wet dress rehearsal! I got a long lens (1600mm) set up in the WORF (Window Observational Research Facility) window in the lab and got a few nice shots of SLS (Space Launch System) on the pad as it is getting ready for the test. It has also been a beautiful full Moon (this shot from the Cupola yesterday). Go Artemis II!

Australia, meet your 2026 Australian of the Year, Katherine Bennell-Pegg. When Katherine was in high school, she was asked to write down three things she wanted to do when she grew up. She wrote down only one: astronaut. In 2024, Katherine became the first person to qualify as an astronaut under the Australian flag. Meaning she is now eligible for future missions to the International Space Station. Katherine is a respected leader in her field and an inspiration to the next generation of Australian scientists, engineers and astronauts. In every way possible, Katherine shows her fellow Australians what we can achieve when we reach for the stars.
