Japanese school uniforms are actually insane. The tailoring is so sharp, the fabric so high-quality, plus they're genuinely expensive enough so that it forces every student to treat the uniform like something precious. You have to iron it, fold it properly, keep it pristine. That single habit alone instills discipline, cleanliness, and respect that you just don’t see anywhere else. This is why Japanese schoolgirls hit different. The uniform does half the work- it makes them look elegant, put-together, and lowkey untouchable. It’s fashion + character development in one package. Only Japan could make mandatory school clothes this iconic.

@katiekirsch Sounds exciting and healthy. For the rest of us, the brutal slamming death metal community is generally more welcoming.

You have no experience. You’ve never started a company. You’ve never had a full time job. Nike is going to kill you. You’re a kid. You don’t have technical skills. You shouldn’t build hardware. Apple is going to kill you. You can’t build hardware. You can’t measure heart rate non-invasively. Athletes don’t care about recovery. Under Armour is going to kill you. It won’t be accurate. You don’t listen. You’re an ineffective leader. You can’t recruit great talent. You’re going to have to pay every athlete. You can’t measure sleep non-invasively. It’s too expensive to research. Athletes are a small market. The product costs too much to make. The product costs too much to sell. Your valuation is too high. Consumers aren’t going to want it. Hardware is too hard. You should measure steps. Fitbit is going to kill you. You can’t build a marketing engine. You can’t raise enough money. You need a real CEO. Google is going to kill you. You can’t be a subscription. You can’t build a brand. You can’t do consumer in Boston. Your valuation is too high. You shouldn’t make accessories. You shouldn’t make apparel. Lululemon is going to kill you. You can’t predict Covid. Stay in your niche. You are going to run out of money. You can’t build a health platform. Amazon is going to kill you. You can’t measure blood pressure. You can’t get medical approvals. The market is too small. You don’t understand AI. The market is too competitive. It won’t work internationally. The supply chain is too complicated. You can’t build an AI. You can’t raise enough money. It’s too competitive. Healthcare isn’t going to want it. … Just keep going ✌️

In the 1990s we experienced: Peak Michael Jordan. The rise of Tiger Woods. Gas at 99 cents a gallon. The golden age of Hip-Hop. The rise of The Rock & Steve Austin. The rise of Venus and Serena Williams. A streak of classic Disney animated films. Sitcoms: Seinfeld, Friends, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Star Trek: "The Next Generation" and "Deep Space 9" Peak SNES, and the arrival of Sony's first PlayStation. Marvel Comics sold hundreds of thousands of books a month. DC Comics' "The Death of Superman" became national news. Rise of young comics including Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock. Elite work from established Hollywood stars, breakouts of new stars and filmmakers, classic blockbuster films (and late night TV hosts who promoted the business instead of lecturing audiences). Nostalgia for the 1990s is strong because excellence across multiple arenas in pop culture was obvious and undeniable, and this excellence enhanced our quality of life. Fame had to be earned, we could enjoy things together, and algorithms had yet to atomize and divide us. It was an amazing time to be alive.

@avachuwu I was ten when the 'black album' came out. I used to love Metallica. Then crap started to come out and I resent that. I was also more of a slayer fan. Living in Korea, I am also trying to get more traction, one way or another, into the local metal scene.

A typical Italian insult toward incompetents is “ma torna a zappar la terra” (“go back to plowing the land”). For context: Italians believe in three things: soccer, mom, and food. First, they are finding out they are just irredeemably bad at soccer. Second, they are finding out that their mom had sex with Berlusconi in 1979. Third, that Australians make better coffee than Neapolitans. After that Italy will just cease to be. Good morning a tout le monde. I hope this helps.

Look at this dude. Plastic surgery was the difference between ending up as McDonald's burger flipper vs iconic megastar. If you gave him +30 IQ, he'd, AT BEST, be working 90h per week at Samsung instead- which isn't much better than burger flipping tbh.
LinaHua tweet media
LinaHua@Linahuaa

Plastic surgery is BASED. Why wouldn't you get it? Being pretty is more important than IQ- especially for women! If you can go from a 5/10 -> 8/10 it's MUCH better than going from 120IQ -> 150IQ! People treat you so much better. You feel so much more confident. Literally only reason not to do it is when you already look good, and the risk (botching, long-term health) outweighs the benefits.

@justincidde @preta_6 Yes. I mean it is tech death and I appreciate that it s not noodle-y. The above notwithstanding, the vocal style is very galling gun word spitting, which is quite different from other bands. It s still a little intellectual for me.

@MApotheker @preta_6 Words per minute? Their vocals are the least impressive thing about them. They follow insane time signatures and changes with crazy fast tempo. Their guitar "rhythms" are more like leads because they're so fast and almost all arpeggio with harmonics and hammers.

This actually happened in Korea. A convenience store worker left in the middle of the night. Just... left. No replacement. No notice. The store stayed open. Unattended. For 8 hours. What happened? A customer walked in, saw no one at the register, waited... then just went behind the counter and started scanning items for other customers. For 8 hours, random customers took turns running the register. Every item was paid for. Nothing was stolen. The owner checked the CCTV the next morning and couldn't believe it. 8 hours. No staff. No theft. Customers literally ran the store for free. This went viral overseas before it even blew up in Korea. People couldn't believe a store could sit empty for a whole night and nothing would go missing.

The ultimate chad is a volcel. The hottest girls are throwing themselves at him, but he ain't got no time for this gay lower instincts bullshit. He has an empire to run, people to protect... The most attractive men in history (both fiction and nonfiction), like Batman, Edward Cullen, Kdrama guys or Jesus were all volcels. Hedonistic manwhores are pathetic. Only mentally ill women are attracted to that shit- and more due to self-esteem issues from getting pumped & dumped than by the man himself. Basically all male dating gurus are gay and pathetic.

@MApotheker @preta_6 Archspire are so fucking talented, it's insane. They'll never get the recognition they deserve, playing tech death (or any genre, TBH, because the days of appreciating a musician's skill is long behind us nowadays).
