@robert_muriithi @david_kollal @wahomethuku I agree. This is not enough. But do you know who should push it up? Parliament. Do you know who can lobby/force parliament to push it up? The same who is who kind of parents who would rather make arrangements to have their children catered for.

Govt provides capitation at 22,000 per year per student at National Schools, Approx. 7k per term, which as you well know is always in arrears and not guaranteed at the term opening. The only question is whether 7k this is enough to run, feed, board, maintain a national school to the expected standards.

I ENDED my 4-year term as a parent of Alliance Girls High School in December last year. I may not have the very finest details about the financial manenos raised by the Education Ministry yesterday but I read mischief in the who matter. I know how fast propaganda travels even before the truth and facts have put on shoes. First the Principal Margaret Njeru reported at Alliance Girls in October last year from Masii Girl. She took over from Jedidah Mwangi who retired after heading the school since early 2023. In fact I have only met Ms Njeru once because visits to the school were restricted in the third term. What I can say as a former parent (and certainly I am not the only one) is what I said here several time in 2024 and 2025 amidst controversy. That AGHS has its own financial tradition going back many years and which is negotiated and agreed upon by parents. It has its traditional activities which are financed either by parents or other sources of funds different from the ministry and which give the students and teachers the academic drive and energy. Let's be honest, the President's daughter was a student at the school and left about two years ago. What's this that the President himself as a parent never encountered that is now a subject of such a "scandal"? Alliance Girls has the who-is-who in its community of parents and that has been the case for years. In fact, its thise "mighty" parents who fight to protect the history, the traditions and the dignity of the school for the sake of their daughters. The AGHS parents have a very independent and self regulating ways of raising the money to meet expectations and I can state without fear of contradiction that some of the activities are financed from account run by parents as signatories. I say because I know the details that far. Investigations are good and measures to protect public funds are good too. But what looks like witch hunting should be pointed out at the earliest opportune moment.

@sholard_mancity The PS was in parliament last week, saying his state department asked for Ksh. 245 billion but Mbadi only gave them 130 billion. But this means he had only budgeted for Ksh. 2,800 per learner per year , which comes to about 360 bob for second term.

@sholard_mancity I don’t think the PS is defending his state department’s decision to send Ksh. 188 to schools as capitation per learner for term 2, I think he’s protesting and exposing both the president and his expert Mbadi at Treasury.

Are you even listening to yourself? You wrote all that just to defend KSh 188 per student, MR PS? KSh 40 for books? That can’t even buy one proper exercise book. KSh 1,400 a year for a child’s education is not capitation. This response is embarrassing. Ruto Must Go

1. The approved Capitation for primary school is capped at Ksh 1,400 per year. The funds are usually released by the National Treasury to the Ministry of Education on termly basis in the ratio of 50:30:20. 2. The capitation amount is arrived at based on clear expenditure lines (vote heads) that are determined by estimated costs incurred by EACH learner. 3. Upon receipt of the money, and based on the exact amount received, MoE releases the funds with an accompanying circular detailing the expenditure breakdown (vote heads). 4. The figures in reference to the circular are based on this practice. 5. In summary, MoE wishes to clarify the following: • MoE determines how much money is allocated to each vote head based on the total amount of capitation received from the National Treasury • Capitation funds are released on three phases corresponding to the school calendar terms • The circular in reference is based on the 2nd term tranche as received from National Treasury. • The amounts shown are per learner, not per school -The KSh 95.25 PER LEARNER is for learning materials only (books, stationery, etc.) -The KSh 93.08 PER LEARNER for school operations (staff, maintenance, utilities, exams) @EduMinKenya @_BasicEdu

@robert_muriithi @david_kollal @wahomethuku Yeah that’s what they say in public. Last year a gentleman addressed the media decrying the unmanageable costs that had kept his cousin on the edge as the parents couldn’t afford the fees.

At Alliance Girls, it's not just the Principal who is in hot soup. The CS Education is going for the entire board. Raising school fees from 53K to 160K is crazy. But looking at what made it get to that figure is crazier. 1. Moral and Spiritual activities - Kshs 1,100,000 2. Annual trips - Kshs 16,000,000 3. Prize Giving/Speeches - Kshs 13,000,000 4. Prize vouchers/sweets/examiners - Kshs 5,000,000 5. Airtime /administrative allowance - Kshs 3,000,000 On 16th October 2025, the board approved a Kshs 25,000,000 staff trip to Dubai. You can guess where the money was to come from.

@baroswahjr A double edged sword Stealing from parents is outrightly bad But if the teachers who enjoy benefits like trips to Dubai retaliate, it would end badly. I've seen schools where unmotivated teachers show up in class gloomy, reads notes and step out. Nothing more.

Hall of Fame?! Wow… I’m still taking this in. 🙌🏾 Who would have thought that a girl who studied Food Science would end up in a Chief Marketing Officers’ Hall of Fame?😅Life truly has a way of unfolding beyond our plans….and this one definitely caught me by surprise! My only qualification here is my love and passion for customers, ever since I did my first ‘real’ sales role in Unilever as a management trainee, it was love at first sight and I have never looked back. Thank you @brandafrica for this incredible honour and recognition. It means even more because it reflects a shared belief in the power of African brands and stories. To the amazing marketing and commercial colleagues that I have worked with over the years at @Unilever🤍, @SafaricomPLC💚and now @mtnug….thank you for making room for me to grow and learn…it has been an Unstoppable ride….and still remains!💛 Onwards to creating more impact as we continue to build, believe, and shape a bold, authentic African brand narrative that the world will not help but see and feel. #TogetherWeAreUnstoppable #BrandAfrica #MarketingLeadership #Gratitude

@CalvinMutsinzi @CityofKigali It’s is a good initiative but the other motorists are now getting stack in traffic really bad then it doesn’t beat sence. I would urge Kigalians to invest in trams or expand roads and reduce your motorbikes in the city they are a disaster.

Court has warned KRA to go for real thieves, not NIL filers. There is a company called Kapwell Enterprises Limited. Their business is not complicated. They sell cargo clearing and forwarding services. When they started, they had no one to show them mashimo. They only had hope and determination. They hit the road. 2013, no deal. 2014, zero deal. 2015, no nothing. Kazi ni kufile tu NIL returns. As the director was busy tarmacking and accumulating tiny stones under his shoe heels, Some crooks had stolen & were busy importing goods using Kapwell’s KRA PIN. In 2018, Kapwell has known mashimo. They are minting real money. KRA notices. They decided to audit. Checking their internal customs system, they discovered that Kapwell’s PIN had imported goods worth 25M in 2013 and 2014. Yet they had filed NIL returns faithfully. KRA went mad. They took the 25M, added a fictitious 20% profit margin, computed income tax, VAT, penalties and interest, and slapped Kapwell with a tax bill of 11M. Next morning at 3am, the director akagurumuka. He reached for his phone to check time. Saw an email notification. Hoping it was a client, he opened it. Bahati mbaya, it was KRA. Delivering the bill. Sleep ended instant. • Lesson 1: usiku wacha simu sitting room. At dawn, without even taking tea, he rushed to KRA to report a system error. Akaambiwa ndugu keti. He was shown mad numbers on the screen. He swore he had never imported such goods. KRA wakamwabia hii utalipa. He ran to the police and reported a case of identity theft. Got an OB number. Took it back to KRA and asked them to investigate who had used his company PIN. He even gave them a list of competitors he suspected. He then served KRA all of his bank statements. They were all zeros for those years. But KRA could not hear any of it. As KRA is doing all this, it is unaware of one dangerous sentence chilling quietly in Kenyan tax law. It reads: • KRA SHALL make inquiries into all tax issues raised by a taxpayer. Make sure to underline the word SHALL. MANDATORY. KRA did not investigate. Their position was: • PIN ni yako. 11M ni yako. Lipa. Frustrated, he ran to court. The Tribunal asked KRA: Where is your investigation report? - KRA said hakuna. Tribunal invoked the one dangerous sentence. You still remember it? • KRA SHALL make inquiries. Tribunal ruled that the word SHALL is MANDATORY. Tribunal concluded Kapwell was a victim of identity theft. 11M tax was set aside. You would think that is the end. Noo. KRA retreated to Times Tower swearing: 11M haiwezi enda hivo. Aje? They appealed to the High Court. In court, Kapwell was asked: Why don’t you want to pay tax under your PIN ndugu? He responded: My lord, I have no problem paying taxes. But not for goods I never bought, never touched, and never sold. The good judge asked him: What do you mean? He responded: My Lord, if you owe your landlord 100K. You take the 100k bundle to his office and hand it to him. As he starts counting, a thief storms in, orders everyone down, and in the confusion the landlord throws the money back at you. The thief grabs it and disappears. Have you paid rent or not? The court went silent. The judge asked him: Kapwell what are you saying? He replied: My Lord, who should the landlord pursue for the money? You the tenant or the thief? Judge removed his spectacles. Paused. Then sided with Kapwell. The 11M tax was set aside. KRA wakaambiwa waende watafute wezi wawalipe. Case closed. Lesson 2. • KRA cannot tax a victim of identity theft. • KRA must go for the real beneficiary thief.
