The path to power for Black athletes often demands sacrifice, echoing the spirit of historical youth movements. Understanding this parallel is key. youtu.be/70Xf6iMfxew #RolandMartinUnfiltered #BlackStarNetwork #BlackAthletes #AthletePower #Activism #Sacrifice #Community

My latest op-ed in the @dcexaminer "Black Americans are arguably the most partisan voting bloc in modern political history. Districts drawn along racial lines were never just about protecting black political voices but protecting Democratic incumbencies." tinyurl.com/4czfdskp

I've gotta say this. Because it's what I think. I think if Obama were white, he would probably be considered as one of the greatest presidents ever.

South Carolina, where the first shot of the civil war was fired, where 40 percent of those enslaved came through the Charleston port, is today engaged in an ugly recidivism to draw maps that will deny a Black person the chance to serve in Congress. The stakes could not be higher. Our political fight is not on a playground, but a moral battleground. We must stand for Black representation across the South.

Yall remember Kylin Hill? This brother was a major turning point in the flag's removal. In June 2020, #MississippiStateUniversity running back Kylin Hill tweeted: "Either change the flag or I won't be representing this State anymore & I meant that .. I'm tired". Hill, a #Mississippi native and one of the top rushers in the #SEC at the time, issued this threat directly in response to #Governor Tate Reeves' initial hesitation to support a new flag design. His stance sparked a massive wave of support Pressure on #Leadership: His tweet went viral and put immediate pressure on state legislators and #university officials to take a definitive stand. Widespread Support: Other athletes and coaches—including those from #OleMiss—publicly backed him, as did the SEC and #NCAA. Resulting Change: Lawmakers passed the bill to retire the old flag just days after Hill's ultimatum. Hill was later honored by his hometown for his role in the historic change. While Hill stayed and played for a portion of the 2020 season, his threat is widely credited with accelerating the legislative process to remove the Confederate emblem. With the dismantling of the black voting rights in the South Black athletes in the SEC could really redistribute the pain with over $470 million!!! Just saying…
