This is the most serious escalation by the UAE against Iran thus far - and a lever that will hurt the IRGC much more than military action These networks were an insurance policy - cutting these ties means the UAE is abandoning meaningful bilateral relations
Iran International English@IranIntl_En

The arrest of dozens of IRGC-linked money changers in the United Arab Emirates is one of the most serious blows yet to Tehran’s sanctions-evasion network, laying bare how heavily the Islamic Republic has depended on Dubai as an economic lifeline. iranintl.com/en/202603319804

People underestimate how prideful Persians are. 4th smartest in the world, 1st in the Middle East. If anyone thinks Iran goes backwards like Iraq or Afghanistan, you’re mistaken. They’re coming back tenfold.

@KrysiaJ There is no justification for attacking a country that isn’t part of the war. “They hit us because someone else hit them” is totally off topic. This isn’t about what the US or anyone else did. IRGC is proving the US’s point - they are indeed terrorists.

With the new rules for bicycles starting tomorrow, I think a lot of foreigners who don’t have a Japanese driver’s license are going to get stopped for not stopping at rail crossings! I don’t think other countries have such a rule!

How it’s gonna end . ( speculation) (1) Iran keeps the toll booth. SoH becomes like Panama Canal or Suez Canal (2) Iran becomes known as a clandestine nuclear state. (like Israel) (3) agreement to end proxy support (4) Turkey leads a Neo-ottoman sunni coalition (5) U.S largely withdrawals from the area (6) Iran installs a proxy in Bahrain Hopefully this ends before a Vietnam style bloodbath.

To this point … I’m told by a senior oil broker most tanker owners won’t transit the strait at this point, even with a Navy escort. Confidence is predicated on a diplomatic resolution or (probably to a lesser extent) complete defeat of the Iranian regime. Regardless, timeline in any scenario is months or years … not weeks, per industry experts.
Emma Ashford@EmmaMAshford

This is probably accurate; it's certainly what happened during the tanker war. But the time frame here is also months or years -- not weeks. Just because we can claw back control of the Strait from Iran over time and at great cost will not protect economies in the interim.
