Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey sits at 95% reviews, edging past The Return of the King, which holds 94%. On the audience side, The Odyssey also leads so far with a 97% Popcornmeter score from verified ratings, compared to The Return of the King’s 86% audience score.

The reason Paige as a solider doesn’t work is because 1: Paige is five foot nothing and looks like a hundred pounds of dehydrated beef jerky in a vacuum sealed bag. And 2: There is a swinging dick swagger that men with a testosterone level higher than that of a prepubescent girl have that comes naturally. It’s the swagger that has like 80% of men thinking they could fight off a wild lion if forced to. Brad Pitt had it when he played Achilles. All the testosterone injections in the world aren’t gonna turn Paige into a convincing figure in a set of Spirit Halloween armor. It can’t be taught, it can’t be bought, and it’s not convincing anyone. It’s entirely possible for a shorter guy to have a level of gravitas or intimidation. Prime ECW Taz had it in spades. You could tell by one look that he was. Human pitbull, but again that swagger takes something no gravely voiced line delivery can impart. Running like a kid with a full diaper trying to catch the school bus is not just laughable, it’s something that should have had a friend take Nolan aside and say “This is entirely unconvincing.”

@afeverdreamhigh @MartyrWith The only overlap is that Odysseus talks to Sinon in Hades. Otherwise the characters have nothing in common. Somebody probably saw that being filmed and assumed Elliot was playing Achilles, but that wasn’t true.

I hated the Odyssey more than I can express. Apart from getting ear raped for thee hours by the worst score and sound mixing I've ever heard (literally had to cover my ears at times), the final fight was a joke. Most scenes and character actions were monumentally retarded. Let's just let people drown in the trojan horse even though there's plenty of room inside to get them out of the water! The Cyclops scene was filled with so much stupid my brain melted. The giants are just sitting in their armor waiting to kill everything for no reason at all. Odysseus gets many men killed because he's a retard. Worst historical armor and accuaracy details I've EVER seen in a high budget film. Rings of power armor was better and that was ASS! For a movie where archery and a bow play such an important part NO ONE KNOWS HOW TO USE OR STRING A WARBOW!! including Odysseus! Every scene with a bow was a joke. THEY DIDN'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO HOLD IT! There is so much more that I can say about how bad this film was. it was painful to get through. Worst cinema experience I've ever had.

You know what I'm really curious about? How much of this box office is IMAX? Because those tickets are far more expensive, and they won't get repeat viewings the same way regular theaters would. That could front load the movie if it isn't getting regular theaters filled as much as IMAX theaters.
