Once again, the @NCAA misses the mark. A five-year eligibility clock is reasonable, but this proposal overlooks two predictable consequences. First, athletes and their advisors will adjust high school graduation timing so the eligibility clock starts later, pushing graduation closer to age 19. Second, this creates a disincentive for academically advanced student-athletes who currently graduate at 17 and begin college coursework early while continuing their athletic development. Policies should encourage academic acceleration, not discourage it. There also does not appear to be any grandfather clauses. By the way, ncaa hockey players are among the highest graduation rates and academic success.

The NCAA is giving "serious consideration" to a five-year age-based eligibility concept, per @RossDellenger Division I Cabinet members will meet today to discuss further.

@DomSramaty If Quinn was in the conference finals and cup finals I doubt this is even a story/consideration

So Quinn just wanted to go back to the USA. Didn't matter if the Canucks were good or not. Crazy.

I agree with @RJHenderson7. This team can’t move on to the next chapter as long as 40 is still on the roster. His contract is too much of a distraction now that he isn’t the game-breaker he was signed to be. Both parties would benefit from a split.

Rutherford brings up Hughes and Tkachuk as examples of US players wanting to go home regardless of team.. Why would Canadian teams draft an American player if this true? Just too big a risk

@DTSB_98 I’ve said this for years, our perception of Reilly is severely impacted by the misuse of him and poor roster construction. As a 3D/2nd pair, he’s fine even at that number. Problem is he’s our “best” Dman and therefore he sucks in comparing him to that 1D expectation

@Ihatewinter2026 Gets you a young NHL C to learn from JT, gets you a younger D Man, gets you a potential Heineman version on RW and gets you either 2 D in this years draft or if lucky Malhotra and 1D

@Ihatewinter2026 lol don’t get me wrong would love that return but 2 years of questionable performance and 2 years left on a high $ ain’t getting you all that. I’ve got him pegged Seattle personally (Wright, Nyman, Evans and their 1st this year)

@_JordanDecker He needs to go to a small market focused on building a core audience/relevance on a national level or that just needs a superstar Carolina, Seattle, Kings, Minnesota, Detroit & Columbus all make sense to me Minny cap and assets wise probably doesn’t make sense tho

@joshbeleaf I’m more of a fan of getting Evans and Nyman in addition to Wright, but in principle like this trade. Especially the 1st rounder this year

@hatricklaine28 San Jose and Utah both say no. San Jose needs D and size up front Utah would need to deal a roster C back + that would shrink the return Love the idea, think the destinations are off

@MHeise10 @JacobDoodle Horrible take. If there’s a middle 6 C or a 1D on the board you take the 1D every time. If there’s a log jam at D in 3 years, you use the capital to trade for what you need at that point
