@LocasaleLab This is a serious problem, as this means at least 75% of people with PhD's are not smart enough to have the degree

It is absurd that 2 percent of the working-age population hold the title Doctor of Philosophy. The PhD was supposed to recognize the rare person determined to develop mastery of a discipline and push the boundaries of knowledge at the highest level. It was never meant to become routine vocational training or a government-subsidized holding pattern. NIH and university expansion transformed the degree into a labor model. Universities gained cheap workers, industry gained a credential with which to de-risk hiring, and taxpayers financed both. The result is credential inflation that cheapens the degree and makes the title more or less meaningless. The system must contract. The PhD should be reserved for the small number who regard the pursuit of knowledge as their calling. Everyone seeking vocational training should enter the workforce earlier, receive training as an employee, and begin building a career.

@LocasaleLab 2% of working age Americans have a PhD. Why is the US government funding people to pursue a PhD?

A group of scientists and inventors made advances in TECHNOLOGY and BIRTH CONTROL. That liberated the women to pursue their careers and achieve financial independence. FEMINISM was the freeriding kid in the project group, which gave a good presentation, and stole the credit. - Washing Machine made washing clothes easy. - Refrigerator made cooking a less repititive venture. - Microwave oven, air fryers etc. made cooking faster. - Dishwasher made cleaning easier. - Vaccum cleaners made sweeping easier. - Electric Iron and the sewing machine made maintaining clothes easier. - Birth control pills, other contraceptive methods and egg freezing gave control on pregnancies. What feminism truly did was open up the female workforce to the labour market. Thus, it provided the capitalists cheap labour. It also doubled the consumers. And many product categories arrived on the scene which could now be sold to women. Thus, more revenues, more profits. The result is that 50 years ago, a man's single income used to feed a family of 5. But today, even a double income is not enough to feed a family of 3. Huh! Perhaps, that's progress. Feminism liberated the rich capitalist men. They are richer now, thanks to the paid female workforce. The females were brainwashed to categorise nurturing a home as slavery and unpaid domestic labour, but corporate slavery was glorified and linked to ambition. I think happiness index is the true indicator of society's progress. And all surveys indicate women are more stressed and less happy than their previous generation. I can go on and on. But, I think you get the gist.

The biggest mistake many conservatives make is believing that Democrats or the Left are merely stupid and don’t understand economics. Because they for some reason fail to see or grasp the malice and greed that is really at work. For example: “Ha! By raising taxes the Dem cities are just going to cause the rich in those cities to leave! Morons!” The more cerebral ones will give some talk about the “unintended consequences” of “suicidal empathy.” What they don’t see is this: by driving the wealthy out who aren’t a part of their network, they are taking over the cities completely and eliminating their rivals. Across the nation, big cities are experiencing the exodus of long time wealthy, well-connected families with deep history in the community. Each of these families is losing their history, their networks, their influence. And for the thugs running our cities, it is the loss of potential rivals. The naive conservative thinks he’s seeing foolishness, incompetence, “unintended consequences.” He hasn’t yet figured out that what he’s witnessing is conquest and plunder and sending rivals into exile.

@middle_class_us Thank god for capitalism, so that people can get groceries from Cub, Walmart, Hy-vee, Festival, Target, Costco, Sam's Club, Knowland's, Aldi, Amazon, the farmer's market, local farmers, Kowalski's. Thank god the state isn't in charge of groceries.

Grocery stores figured something out. You can't stop eating. So they can charge whatever they want. You will cut other things first. The vacation. The dinner out. The new clothes. The savings. Eventually the retirement contributions. But you will buy the groceries. Because you have to. They know that. They price accordingly. And call it market forces.

"An eye for an eye leaves everyone blind." No, it doesn't. When tribe A starts gouging out the eyes of the men of tribe B, how do you think that ends? It depends on what B does. If B refuses to gouge out the eyes of tribe A in return, there's a good chance that all B will end up blind and enslaved by A. If B does start gouging in return, them members of A might discover what B already know (thanks to A), that eye-gouging is bad, and it's a bad norm — and put a stop to it. In other words, it seems that it is often the case that "an eye for an eye" is the best means to putting a stop to the eye-gouging cycle.

@RockChartrand I won't pretend to know but when they started mandating me to go to trainings where I was taught that "only white males can be racist because only white males have power" - I knew I better hit the books.

I always hated group projects in school. I'd do 50 - 60% of the work, the other 3 group members did the rest. We'd all share the A or B+. I eventually stopped working so hard, and the group would share a C. That's Socialism.

@MISTER__CLEAN @reklaimcontrol I'm interested in your source material. This sounds closest to some enneagram theory (Maitre), mixed with integral theory (Wilber), attachment theory, Buddhism, and Spiral Dynamics. Must have a common source.

@RockChartrand Elon is proof of this. The painfully ignorant scream "How can we have a trillionaire when there are people starving!" They understand his wealth as an expense to others. Yet 99% of his worth lies in the businesses he oversees.

This has it exactly backwards. Capitalism doesn't depend on poverty. It depends on production, trade, and creating value. Socialism's appeal is strongest when people are dissatisfied and focused on unequal outcomes, because redistribution requires something to redistribute and a constituency convinced it's owed someone else's wealth. If everyone were prosperous and satisfied, its central promise of redistribution would have far less appeal.

@shubhvanii No, because women don't think, they feel. They FEEL attraction towards high status men. When they're all done up, they may even get positive responses from high status men. This FEELS great. If they thought, they would know these men are not going to be interested long term.

forgiveness was possible as soon as i understood the mental illness my abusers gave to me it caused me to build delusions to cope with horrible things in my life once those delusions were challenged (rock bottom) and saw the mental illness within me, i could then see it in others, and begin to forgive them, because i understood just how difficult it was to defeat this mental illness the mental illness that tricks you into never facing it, its brutal

@reklaimcontrol Not recognizing the forces that animate you, and others, is the antithesis of wisdom. The beauty is - most of us get to choose. Religion [or as you note: psychology] evolved parallel to self-awareness/ consciousness.

yes and its not to appease some imaginary god that's just how a social species work being an asshole is you hurting yourself, because you miss out on opportunities in life with other people actual empathy means you guard another person's mental health, it doesn't mean coddling mentally ill people and lying to them, keeping them sick and desperate for relief

@reklaimcontrol Forgiveness is the mechanism for societal evolution upwards. Those haunted by their endless failure to stay on the path (sins) need some tool to get up the next day and try again. Grant that same grace to your neighbors. Have an entire community doing that and watch what happens

i often claim that christianity is in itself satanism because of the false idol yahweh you're worshipping self, narcissism/satanism jesus understood that emotional dependency on false idols (gods, money, religion, relationships) was detrimental to your own mental health, he was a psychiatrist, not a prophet
