I went to a state school. I used to be against private schools. I used to think they were toffs & people who thought they were better than us. Then I matured. I now realise that in the main, the people who send their kids to one are just normal folk who have decided to prioritise best education for their children and often make significant sacrifice to do so. Alongside this, they also help fund the state education system, which they don’t use. Whatever problems state schools face, it certainly isn’t as a result of private schools. If anything, kids going private eases pressure on the state system. The closure of these schools are utterly tragic for the kids affected. Ed Miliband is actively creating the conditions for permanently high energy prices in Britain. We are sitting on oil and gas reserves in the North Sea, yet choosing not to drill them. No serious country with domestic resources takes that approach. Policies like this don’t move us forward, they push us backwards. Decades of industrial strength and energy security are being undermined in real time. Britain cannot compete, grow, or protect living standards with structurally high energy costs.

Your council tax is £2,300 a year. On top of income tax and NI every month. They collect bins every 2 weeks (if you're lucky), haven't fixed the pothole outside your house in 4 years, and just closed the library down the road to save money. Meanwhile the average NHS wait is 18 weeks, GP bookings are 3 weeks out, and A&E regularly runs 8+ hours. You're paying for services that don't exist anymore.
