This really is huge. Sometimes cancer research news is treated as more than it is but this one really is a big deal. If only my lovely cousin could have lived long enough to be in these trials.

Pancreatic cancer has one of the most suppressive tumor microenvironments in oncology. But two pancreatic cancer results dropped today. Both matter. 1. BioNTech mRNA neoantigen vaccine: nearly all responders still alive at 6 years. 98% of induced T cells were de novo — the immune system learned to see a cancer it had always been blind to. 2. Daraxonrasib: 47% ORR, 92% disease control as first-line monotherapy. KRAS G12D, undruggable for 40 years, finally has a drug. Different mechanisms. Same disease. Both working. <13% of patients survive 5 years. That number is about to change. great day for science! 🔥

We all benefit from diverse candidate fields. Jungle primaries work against that.
Jungle primaries don’t benefit voters. They only benefit big money.

One of the worst parts of the higher ed bubble popping is that the schools that least deserve to close—weird experimental schools trying something real—will be most likely to do so, while nursing-and-business-schools-with-adjunct-English-teachers will hang on like mold.

I'm a Hampshire College graduate. I applied early decision. It forced me to write. Its flexibility to take courses outside of campus let me complete an undergraduate degree focused on Eastern Orthodox theology. The death of these alternative institutions is a huge loss.

UnitedHealth, the biggest health insurer in the country, ran an algorithm that flagged patients for “too much” therapy. If they had more than 30 sessions in 8 months or twice a week, they denied coverage to save money.
Regulators in California, New York, and Massachusetts called it illegal under federal mental health parity laws because they don’t do this to physical health claims. They settled, paid fines, and kept right on doing it in Medicaid plans across dozens of states.
