Sad reality: There are kids who are more concerned about scoring 1,000 pts, getting social media write ups, seeing what offers they’re gonna get & what travel team they’re gonna play on instead of developing, staying in the moment & trying to help their team win a championship!

Parents get mad at school coaches when their kids don’t play as much as they think they should. They feel they’ve invested so much time & money that their kid should be playing more when reality is they’ve thrown money away for the last decade on pointless training & AAU teams.🤷🏻‍♂️

@GreggDoyelStar Gregg, I know you aren’t super familiar with our level but I’d probably hold off on calling Goshen the worst NAIA team in America.

@GreggDoyelStar Idk how they’re the worst when they’ve beaten 7 other NAIA teams this year and just went to over time with the #3 team in the country but alright.

Found this in my photos when reminiscing. I didn’t play much my junior year and had a goal to play in college. Knowing what I know now as a coach I think I had the right mindset.

“I think we sent a message first of all to society that if you keep your nose to the grindstone and work hard and you got the right people, anything’s possible,” Curt Cignetti. Toughness, Effort and Character makes a difference.

Mental toughness isn’t about winning every game. It’s about competing your hardest every game, no matter the circumstances.

Holding people accountable to high standards is nothing to apologize for. Failing to stretch them to their potential is.

You can put up highlights, you can reclass, you can team hop, and you can school hop. The defining moments will come. Did you spend years preparing for it? If not, it will show. You can’t combat it.
