In retaliation, the U.S. sent the warship USS Lexington. She destroyed the fortifications, arrested several residents for piracy, and declared the islands free of any government. The resulting chaos left the door wide open for that 1833 British return.

USN TRACKING: Nimitz-Class CSG Off the Coast of Oman Sentinel 2 📷 from today (12 July 2026) captures a U.S. Navy Nimitz-class carrier strike group (Lincoln or Bush) operating ~81km (44 nautical miles) east of 🇴🇲Ras Al Hadd. Two Arleigh Burke destroyers are actively screening the carrier.

@MT_Anderson @tom_bike Rather than downloading the image you can directly get them from Google earth engine. It runs 2 hours behind eu hub api but its something to check out
