Cripes, the @BBCNews just said a new cholesterol therapy works by editing the gene of a protein, PCSK9. Unbelievable. By saying "of" instead of "for" and making the mistake a second time in the article makes the BBC look like idiots.

Oh, some absolute tool appeared on BBC News from Southsea, to tell the world they're happy with global warming if it means more sunny days at the seaside. Bloody moron.

@nadhimzahawi There is literally no other group of people in any context you'd refer to as "fighting age", so stop being a pathetic, divisive, fear-mongering prick and shut up?

8,500 illegal crossings since January, mostly young men of fighting age. That’s 8,500 homes or hotel rooms, and a growing national security risk. If this isn’t a national emergency, what is? Where is the urgency from the PM, Home Secretary and Parliament? Britain cannot keep sleepwalking into decline. Only @reformparty_uk is willing to confront this self-harm. 👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽💔
Jack Elsom@JackElsom

The warm weather has seen three consecutive days of Channel crossings totalling 912 migrant arrivals. This year there have been 8,488 arrivals - the lowest since 2023, although still clearly a massive figure. Shabana Mahmood will be hoping not to emulate 2022, when a *comparatively* low first half of the year ballooned into a record spike. 2022: 7,987 -> 45,755 2023: 7,395 -> 29,437 2024: 10,170 -> 36,816 2025: 13,617 -> 41,472 2026: 8,488 -> ?

@JesusClapsBack @DanNeidle Why the hell would any sane person encourage people to work extra long hours rather than instead ensure that jobs were more widely and wisely distributed and that people had a sensible work/life balance?

@DanNeidle Dan genuine question, what kind of policy would be effective for encouraging genuine overtime working and reducing the tax burden on Individuals as a reward for that?

If we're playing the game of targeting particular demographics with ultra-specific tax cuts, then we shouldn't stop at overtime:
calmdown@MJNorman5

@DanNeidle @docrussjackson Any chance of abolishing tax on wine? 🍷 And installing a price cap on wine 🍷 in restaurants. I bet the @LibDems would be up for this.

During his time as PM, Boris Johnson changed the rules for expats- allowing British citizens living abroad to remain in the electoral register indefinitely - Previously there was a 15 year limit- which would have applied to Harborne - You can only donate to a political party if you are on the electoral register -How much has this man influenced our democracy already? gov.uk/government/new…

These are whiskey bullets. They perform two functions. 1) It is how Texans cool their drink without ice melting and diluting said drink. 2) It gets you and your family a free tour of @DublinAirport baggage transfer and screening under armed airport police supervision when you have it in checked baggage. To be fair, they were very good about it, once I had explained the concept to them (still in the original packaging, wife had brought them to gift to me), and after some rather bemused close examination by the officer they escorted us to the front of the immigration line after the delay, which I appreciate.

Zelensky is going around advising all the European policymakers to start a war against Russia, so they can remain in power without elections just like the kievs Neo-nazi regime has done. I don't know what will happen in the Italian elections next year, we are in the 4th Reich in Europe. Russia will defeat them again swiftly and effectively.

Zelensky wants to keep fighting a losing war. Ukrainians haven’t had an election in 7 years to decide what THEY want. This is 1945 Germany.

White van man Jamie Spence, 52, handed criminal conviction and £266 court bill, just for tooting his horn to get a friend’s attention. The Chelmsford driver sounded his white Ford Transit van horn multiple times outside Braintree train station on 4 December 2025 while trying to catch the eye of a mate. Essex Police officer PC Asa Smith spotted it and charged him with “sounding an unauthorised audible warning instrument” the Highway Code only allows the horn to warn of danger. Spence ignored the fixed penalty notice so the case was dealt with via the Single Justice Procedure at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on 12 May. He pleaded guilty and was fined £146 plus £120 costs, total £266, and now has a criminal record. I thought this was a joke at first but its real...what a waste of resources for this stupid fine.

@BearJFK @SRAikenUUP We have no business in Ukraine. America made the war. There are many countries and miles between us. The EU can deal with it - if it must. We have daily invasions here and Islamic takeover of our political establishment to fight.

A brigade…. A fucking brigade In 1989, the British Army could deploy a full corps of four divisions (3 armoured, 1 infantry) in W Germany. With 10,000s more troops in other areas. Even the bloody Dutch could deploy a corps. Germany had 3 standing corps of mostly heavy units. By 2010, Britain could barely keep a reinforced brigade in Afghanistan. And that was with an army of 105,000 regulars and 30,000 TA. We now have an army of ~70k regulars and 20k reserve. Deployability is even lower. Equipment count lower still. The idea our troops would go toe to toe with a peer adversary is at best for the birds. At worst, cruel.
Tymofiy Mylovanov@Mylovanov

Elviss: The UK government says it is ready to deploy British soldiers to support a ceasefire in Ukraine. Planning is already underway for a multinational division with a British brigade-sized force. The deployment would be sustainable long-term. 2/

@josephkazUK I don't understand this. Are you saying there's a large area of ground-level pavement which is actually a glass roof to the underground station? Eh? Did they do that just to save on a few might bulbs?

Your reminder that the 'glass ceiling' of TCR has been fenced off for a number of years now because it's leaking and too slippery when wet. The tried to fix it with hideous paint, glass etching and injecting water sealant. Nothing worked. The cost to the taxpayer to fix the design flaw is estimated at over £1,000,000. Not a single contractor has been held to account nor does a single journalist appear to be interest in covering the story. @TfL @MayorofLondon

@ZiaYusufUK Moronic. You basically want everyone to live to work rather than work to live. You want to maximise overtime, and your next step, along with enabling fire-and-rehire, will be to cut tax for people taking only 2wks holiday not 4 or 5. Total Americanisation of UK worklife.

🚨Important policy announcement: Britain was built on the hard graft of people who go the extra mile. A Reform government will ABOLISH income tax on hours worked beyond 40 hours a week, for incomes below £75,000 a year. It’s time to REWARD hard work, not punish it! 🇬🇧
