The EAC MSMEs Trade Fair steered by the Kenyan team today brought together global, regional and national leaders to shape the future of medium and small enterprises. The session highlight included key remarks from the Chief Guest, Cabinet Secretary @CoopsandMSMEs Hon. @DrOparanya who noted that while governments are doing their part to strengthen policies that support business growth, real progress depends on collective action by all stakeholders. On her end, The Cabinet Secretary @EACAffairsKenya , @CSBeatriceMoe stressed that deeper regional collaboration is essential to unlock MSME growth across the bloc. ITC Executive Director @CokeHamilton @ITCnews called for the implementation of solutions for unlocking opportunities and addressing barriers that hinder MSME growth. The @UN Resident Coordinator in Kenya reinforced the need for MSMEs to be supported and visible in global development agendas. The Secretary General of the @AfCFTA @MeneWamkele delivered a compelling keynote on how Africa can use the AfCFTA to elevate regional value chains and expand trade and investment opportunities. EAC Deputy Secretary General @SMannette1 underscored a central takeaway from the discussions, “ The real constraint is not liquidity, but the bankability of MSMEs. Structural bottlenecks and persistent risk perceptions continue to limit access to affordable credit, keeping many viable enterprises from scaling,” she shared. The session wrapped up with a dynamic discussion on access to finance, bringing together senior public and private-sector voices.
