I have been lurking since rejoining a week ago, making the occasional comment and trying to understand the complexities of the unrest in the UK. That wasn't my intention; I just wanted to say hi and share some of my design ideas. This is my desktop speaker design: the Maclurite.

@RealStephenKerr I once wrote to them to request the listing of an old building at risk of being demolished for housing. They took 2 years to respond and said no, as planning was already approved. At the time I made the request, the planning had not even been submitted. They are useless.

An estimated 40 million tons of wind turbine blades will end up in landfills by 2050. Each modern blade weighs around 10 to 15 tons--mostly fiberglass and epoxy composites with 1 to 2 tons of carbon fiber, balsa and foam, plus roughly a ton of steel and copper for structural support and lightning protection. All mined, smelted and transported using fossil fuels. Then once they wear out, after just 15 years, those complex materials are almost impossible to recycle, so most are simply buried. It's another hidden cost of green energy and the complete opposite of sustainable.

Ruby Morris, who is 15, was reported missing having last been seen in the Kent coastal town at around 2.30pm on Saturday 27 June. She's described as white and around 5ft tall with long, dark brown hair and green eyes. She has both sides of her nose pierced. On Tuesday 14 July, Ruby was seen in social media posts which appear to show her in Leicester city centre the previous day. She may be wearing a cropped black vest top, a short black skirt and white socks with black fluffy sliders. Ruby, who is known to use the rail network, is suspected to be travelling with a woman who is known to her, described as white, around 5ft 8in tall and of very slim build, with short auburn hair that is cropped very short at the sides. Extensive enquiries have been ongoing since Ruby was reported missing, including following up on reports of potential sightings, searching areas to where she is known to travel, reviewing CCTV, analysing mobile phone data and speaking with her friends and associates. Detective Superintendent Keith Taylor from Kent Police said: ‘We have committed significant resources to finding Ruby, who we believe is travelling without her phone or bank card and is vulnerable. We have obtained a social media video which appears to show Ruby in the centre of Leicester. We have not heard from her directly to confirm she is safe.
