Many have asked me to clarify the Hantous issue, so I will try to summarize it as briefly as possible... Hantous has been living peacefully since 2015 in areas controlled by Ansar Allah. This indicates that what happened had nothing to do with him being a Salafi. There are many Salafis living in peace. According to a statement from the Rima police, Hantous has had a negative and opposed stance toward supporting Gaza since the Yemeni army began its military operations to support and assist Gaza. For example, he described the Red Sea operations as piracy and was a supporter of the American aggression against Yemen. The authorities in Rima asked the sheikhs and prominent figures in Raymah to mediate and convince Hantous to stop destabilizing the security situation, but Hantous rejected the mediators. Attached is a copy of a memorandum from the Deputy Governor, Sheikh Muhammad Murad, to the Governor, Faris Al-Habari, dated July 1. The memorandum states that the individual named Hantous refused mediation and that Hantous refused to respond to security authorities. The police had previously issued multiple warnings to Hantous through local tribal elders and community leaders. urging him to cease his destructive activities, but he responded with rejection and obstinacy. As a result, a security unit was dispatched to arrest him. However, Hantous opened fire as soon as the forces arrived, prompting an effort to de-escalate the situation and avoid bloodshed. The police reached out to several tribal leaders in the Al-Salafiyah District to mediate, but Hantous refused to receive them. Instead, he escalated his aggression by launching a direct attack on the security forces along with an armed group loyal to him. This attack led to the martyrdom of three security personnel and injuries to seven others, which compelled the forces to respond in self-defense.
